For some BAFFLING reason instead of longshot and caltrops Varric started off with JUSt flank attack.

 

Um...what?

 

Solas also lost Winter's Grasp for some reason.

 

I'm very confused right now. Is this intentional?

I started a NM game about 2 weeks ago and didn't have that problem...sounds very weird and terrible!

Sounds like a glitch. I've never had Varric start with flank attack.

Maybe restart? Idk... i'd be worried about issues with your save files for that game.

I had the same. It seem to happen roughly every 15-20 or so restart(Tested twice. Don't ask...). Some annoying bug that made the intro way harder than it needed to be!

It is, indeed, a bug.

I had this once too, really odd.

That whole section can bug out massively. In my several restarts I experienced:

- health potions never appearing, making it brutally difficult with a mage
- Solas disappearing
- Cassandra getting stuck behind the planks you have to jump over
- greater shade demonstrating a bug that effectively gave it the mass effect biotic charge (yup)

So yeah, I believe you.

It was on my first play through so I thought this was normal behaviour. About the point Varric shouts to Cassandra about being glad he came along, the shade just did its move animation and then was in my face, at which point it was smash face. Was terrified of greater shades until I realised they couldn't just telefrag me normally

Yikes that would've sucked. Freaking terrors are the banshees of DAI apparently XD
