I think the games could use more of the variety in British accents. And I mean true accents, not a cop out like Sera's american accent with two features vaguely from the Grim North tacked on.
Sera's voice actress is from Derbyshire. I'm not sure where you're getting "American" from that.

From the same place people got Leliana's 'fake' French accent. It happens all the time that actors get flamed for badly faking an accent when it's actually their natural one. Life's funny that way.

Giselle's wavering between "I can't do a french R so let's just sound like I'm about to puke" and "screw it I'll just roll 'em" got on my nerves SO BAD, and the Winter Palace was certainly an ordeal, but at least nothing in DAI was quite as bad as freaking Anora's handmaiden/Marjolaine/Dorothea back in Origins/Leliana's song. That one made me want to claw my ears out. I'll never understand why they thought giving Marjolaine and Dorothea the same awful, incredibly recognisable fake accent was a good idea, the Dorothea introduction scene was so confusing.

To me, Dorothea was amusingly bad. Isolde was rupture your eardrums awful to the point I made sure to kill her in EVERY playthrough.
See, I found Isolde annoying but easy to tune out. Whereas if any french-accented character voiced by Kath Soucie comes onscreen, I turn off the sound and go with subtitles, because she literally stops me from enjoying the game. Perceptions, I guess

I've always liked accents, they're very funny to me. I often find myself imitating them too, sometimes unintentionally. I don't know, I just think they're fun and in Dragon Age, for example, you can tell where people come from just from the way they speak. I mean, they can't speak their own language because the player would have no idea what they're saying, so they speak the "common tongue" with their own accents.

I mentioned this in another thread that talked about accents, and what can happen when native speakers are performing their "accent" in a second language.
It's actually very difficult, and it's not always the native speakers who manage it most consistently. But it varies.
Leli's accent definitely wavers, coming and going depending on the scene. Strangely, I find it a lot more noticeable in DA:I than I did in DA:O.
Then you have Lambert Wilson, who speaks flawless English as a second language, and he was "faking" his French accent throughout the Matrix trilogy, despite being a native French speaker. His accent was extraordinarily consistent in the trilogy, not wavering at all.
Sometimes non-native speakers can manage amazing accents, even if they don't understand a word that they're saying. Ron Perlman is famous for this. He didn't understand a word of his dialogue in the movies In the Name of the Rose, or City of Lost Children, but his accents in both films were incredibly consistent (he learned his lines phonetically.)
I guess, in the end, it really comes down to the actor, more than whether they are a native speaker. Fundamentally, their job is acting, which includes putting on an accent in some cases. People who have a skill for it will do it better, in many cases regardless of what their native language is.

Looking back at this, I'd like to take a moment to give thanks that none of the suggested alternatives were "brony mail."
Familiarity breeds contempt, your own accent always sound bad. Foreign accents usually sound 'exotic'. The Mandalorians in Kotor always made me laugh though, especially when I imagine them being like Steve Irwin.

He's native. Youtube him if you're not familiar... he lays it on a bit too thick as well. Having said that, Miranda's isn't quite as bad. But you get my point.
Regional British accents I can tell (being British myself) but all others, I don't notice as much. Leliana's voice was bad, accent no idea, but I think that's because it was harsher than in DA:O. It seemed set in DA:O and for some reason in Haven and Skyhold she is very harsh, in the Ball though she is like DA:O again... weird that.
EDIT: I would have prefered an Aussie accent to the American one we got for Inquisitors voice. I'd say FFXIII was bearable because of it's 2 aussie accents, they had pitch and character, everyone else was drone.
Put some over the top Canadian accents in there next time.
The biggest issue with Giselle's accent is that it comes and goes lol and no its not really french , i know thats what it was intended to sound like but the VA missed the mark.
I don't think that there were any accents that outright grated on me. Mother Giselle's one instance of "people" in her intro dialogue is so strange because she says "people" a few more times in a different accent. We go from "the pee-pell will rally" something like that to just an accented "people" from then on.
I did find it interesting that this was the first instance (as far as I'm aware) of Orlesians actually peppering their speech with real French. I did romance Leliana once in Origins but I can't recall if she ever did and I don't remember in the books anyone actually speaking real-world French. I know many of the names and cultural ideas are obviously derived from French culture/history but it makes me wonder the history of Thedas' languages, heh.
Put some over the top Canadian accents in there next time.
This is also how people think every Minnesotan sounds, only not as quick.
