Curious about other people's attempts at breaking away from the two cookie cutter builds. Right now I'm running PotA, Frost step, Stonefist, and CL as a ranged build. Works well in groups of all ranged DPS. Sup CD amulet and passive that lowers CDs per staff attack.

Can't find a good staff tho. Lvl 23 common

I go all Rift Mage, with PotA, Veilstrike, and Stonefist. I typically use Fade Step for dodging, and wish I could *not* use Fade Shield at all. Yes, I dislike the Knight-Enchanter build that much.

I go chain lightning, stone fist, light saber and frost step.. the light saber is only there for if things get too close.. that being said I do not like the AW as a class all together and never play it.. well never will play it again now that I have gotten all 2500 spirit kills.

I still haven't played the AW yet, but I believe I'll go with Chain lightning, stone fist & fade step for sure. Still undecided on the last ability.

I've noticed that the warrior-type classes really appreciate having a ranged Arcane Warrior. The last build of it I used before promoting was Pull of the Abyss, Stonefist, Chain Lightning and Fade Cloak and grabbed all of the "veil" passives. Warrior player goes in, I can Pull and keep alternating between Chain Lightning and Stonefist to keep up my barrier, in case ranged units notice me and weaken whatever's on the warrior. That further 30% less damage from weakened enemies is pretty great.

I'm thinking I'll sub-out Fade Cloak and Chain Lightning for Fade Step and Veilstrike. I use step on Keeper and Necro, but I love being able to cloak and walk up to enemies if we're in a cramped area or I space out and something does get close to me. I've never used Veilstrike, but I have that Fury of the Veil staff that'll cast it...and the sound it makes is just :D

This.  When I do decide to play AW again, I would also go with this build.

CL + SF = CC + combo

Frost Step = mobility + damage

Light Sabre = jedi melee

I am glad to see these alternative builds. Now if only there were a way not to talk about ham all the time, I would actually play the AW.

PotA is one of the best abilities you can use in a team game. So many kits have powers which synergize very well with this ...

Unless you are planning to make a build with the sole purpose of soloing higher difficulties, there really is no reason to skip that power.

I've run that same build as the op... The "ranged arcane warrior". It was pretty fun and I actually preferred it to the standard ez mode build that most play... I'm not a big fan of the class to begin with so when I promote him I usually try to do something out of the ordinary with the build

Arcane Warrior kind of reminds me of the Human Vanguards from ME3. It's been a while since I played but you had those invincibility frames from the dodge-rolling, I think? I had one friend that was pretty good at it (I assume from all of the fighting games he plays) but a lot of the ones I ran into would run into a pack of enemies and just die horribly. :\ So when I do play Arcane Warrior (I seem to gravitate more towards Keeper/ Hunter/ Archer) I constantly have the "don't be that guy" thought in the back of my head.

PoTA, Stonefist, Chain Lightning and only use light saber if they close in on me.

Arcane Warrior reminds me of the Alliance Infiltration Unit from ME3 for several reasons, but more noticeably the metal leggings.

vs, cl, pota, sf. still leaves you as a pretty powerful mage but gives you tons of cc. vs for an aoe knockdown, cs for aoe knockdown and some good damage. pota for aoe disable and cl for shits and giggles. could probably drop cl for a fs or fc if so desired.
