So this just happened to me...

This happened at threatening. Didn't think it was possible. Shame it was an ilvl 10 dagger.

 

Lesson here is, don't ever skip a treasure room your group can open.

I've gotten a few uniques that way.  All of them worthless (as most uniques are for some reason).

We now skip all treasure rooms aside from maybe freebies. 

  1. 99% of those uniques will be L8-15 so worthless (even on Perilous which is 95% of what we play)
  2. Time it takes to clear out room you could be good way through next dungeon, grabbing freebies on those which will offset the loss(think in terms of time played how many chests you open rather than in terms of per dungeon)
  3. Avoiding random deaths means more revives for 5/5 and more completions toward 250 perilous banner =))

 

This is how the group I play with generally views things because we have most items already, if you have not played a ton then I totally understand wanting those chests. I wish Bioware would give garunteed L16+ on items from Perilous dungeons, improved chances of a rare or unique from later wave chests and possibly even an item when you complete final wave(like boss chest). But as it stands now, its more of a chore than it is worth.

Have received some Uniques in chests but they are usually lower level.  Great if you still need them, but if you have any higher damage weapons, these drops are not usually awesome.

 

All the same, I too like grabbing the gold, as I have much to unlock still.

Happened to me twice. Got the same lvl 8 unique staff twice.

 

I wish it were runes...

It happened to me once on Threatening. It was a low level weapon that didn't make any difference.
I've got Superb Runes on Perilous chests though.

I've gotten 3 purple items out of chests. Always pants level 10 or something. always skip treasure rooms ;)

Unless you have every item you would ever need, I wouldnt want to skip any treasure rooms. More often then not, treasure rooms give out money - and money is the only thing that is ever going to give you those items you covet, so I would advice people to maximize their income. Besides - treasure rooms are easy to clear for most people so that shouldnt be a problem. I would also open all freebies, not just maybe.

If you play only for achievments then yes, I see why you would want to skip them for efficiency.

got about 10 or so epics from treasure chest rooms but its has always been junk. I really wish the spoon was a better weapon.

the chest you buy I can understand is pure RNG, but what you find when fighting should be leveled based, routine 1-9 items, threatening 10-15, perilous 16-23
but bioware devs are to lazy, just easier to throw everything in one bag and shake
