Am I the only 2H warrior absolutely sick of the insane dps dagger drops? WTF BW?! 4 dragons dead so far and I have 3 epic daggers that each do as much or more damage as my epic 2H. Where is the warrior love in this game? 4 Epic staves, 5 epic daggers, 2 epic bows are all drops, and the 2 epic 2h i have are from a chest and bought off skyhold vendor.

Am I missing something here? This game seems to want you to roll a dagger rogue, or is it one of the assinine ones that drop loots for whatever class you are not playing to make you want to do it again with other classes? I love DA, played em all, but this is by far the worst I have seen the 2h warriors treated in all of the.

Gotta craft if you want the best 2H weapons.

While I would like to see more of the weapon choices from those in the party, these other items do add to the fund reserves after sale. And for my current session, Cole is going to be specced as an Archer simply because I wish to explore the dialogue, and I dislike DW Rogues.

Pfffft, RNG was first used in D&D not MMOs, get on my level. :)

I thought the rogue was weaker in Inquisition than in DA2 where they were power-beasts but yeah, two handed warriors have been getting a crappy treatment ever since DA2. Apparently a dagger is meant to be stronger than a giant hammer. Who knew that eh?

But I thought the two handed warrior in Inquisition was much stronger along with the warrior class altogether. The reaver tree really does make your warrior into a power-house this time around and you can do decent DPS without it too.

All hail the RNG loot Gods! I feel the pain, OP. My first Inquisitor was an Archer and I seemed to get more of anything that was not a bow; plenty of daggers for Cole; the mages had a nice selection of staves; warriors had a variety of axes/swords/hammers to pick. All hail.

The dragon drops bones.  Use those to make the best 2 hander you could use.  Also don't look at the DPS, look at the damage per hit, and look at how much damage your attacks do based on weapon damage, not dps.

On my mage I actually got a decent number of 2-handed weapon drops and not a ton of staves.

All glory to the RNG god.

Are you looking at the DPS or the actual weapon damage? Ability damage is calculated from weapon damage, no DPS.

So, a Dagger might have 200 DPS but if it only deals 50 damage per hit, an ability that deals 200% weapon damage wouldnt' be as strong as, say, a 2h weapon that has 150 DPS but deals 100 Damage per hit.

Also, crafting. If you want an decent 2h sword early, you can find a good schematic in the Fallow Mire near the only other Inquisition camp, in a cavey thing.

It's not RNG if he's killing dragons since the loot is set.. BioWare must have assumed people were running a party of four DW rogues.

Loot in this game is nowhere close to RNG. The only RNG involved is in the tier 3 plan lottery. And the number of unique weapons for each type of weapon is pretty evenly spread, sure a disproportionate amount of daggers made their way to dragon loot tables, but thats most of the daggers in the game. Remember that to be equal there must be twice as many daggers as other weapons since you wield two of them at a time.

I was literally just debating doing this for the same reason lol :)

But yea there are a lot of daggers out there. I mostly crafted weapons for all my characters because it let me get exactly what I wanted and generally made for stronger weapons.

Yes, crafting is the way to go to be beast. As daggers are concerned, gotta catch em all I guess, except you can't because there's no place to put them, so gotta sell em all.

More loot and better variables, aswell as a chest for storage would be purrfect.

I wonder whose bright idea was it to make the best endgame schematics be random drops?

Probably the same people who wanted to make DA be a multiplayer game only at the start.

I find it absurd that daggers are the highest DPS weapons. But the same was true in DA2, and daggers also outdamaged swords in DAO.

If daggers are such high damage weapons, why don't warriors use them?

Keep on mind a rogue will need _2_ daggers to be equipped, vs single bow or a sword or a staff. So yeah, wouldn't be surprised if the game was weighted towards dropping more of these than the other gear.

Because warriors get heavy armor, guard and tons of con.

I'm not sure how many unique 2-handers I found - probably 4 or 5 at least, though it's easy to forget because a number of times my crafted weapon was better. I did finally get a pretty beastly 2-handed sword from a side quest that was actually better (or at least equal) than the Tier 3 stuff I could make with dragonbone, so I ended the game on a high note.

I did find a crapload of blue and purple daggers, though... even accounting for the fact that they need to be used in pairs. I think.

What really bugged me, more than anything having to do with power, was the relative lack of cosmetic choices when it came to item crafting. The Tier 3 swords and greataxes I found just didn't look nearly as cool as some of the gray items I found but didn't use because of how weak they were.

I also never got a schematic for anything but a mediocre inquisitor helmet, and was stuck with no good heavy armor crafting options for most of the final 3rd of the game... I did find some good purple armor, and finally lucked into a templar armor schematic that looked awesome when crafted from dragonbone, and a purple Orlesian helm... but it just barely, they came along when I was almost done.

I think RPGs these days need more hand-placed loot, like back in the day, when kids respected their elders and you could ride on the trolley car for 5 cents...

That doesn't answer my question.

If daggers are so great, warriors should want to use them, too. There's basically no reason for any non-dagger one-handed weapons to exist in the setting.

If the game wants to balance the classes, that should be done with abilities, not designing the equipment in nonsensical ways.

What if we cut the damage output of daggers by 60%, but then tripled all of the Rogue ability multipliers (including flanking bonuses)?

That would be better (with tweaking for balance). But having a dagger be that powerful is absurd.

The dps number on the dagger (and other weapons) is a reflection of what that weapon is capable of in the hands of person/class who can use it. The per-hit damage of the dagger is considerably smaller than that of a sword. If the rogues achieve high dps with it, that's because they're not slowed down by wearing the heavy armour/shield that the warrior is rolling with.

I really don't like having class restricted gear. The only justification for it is gamist.

I'm a sword and shield warrior and all the good schematics have been two-handers.

RNG is such a pain. Good thing I was able to buy a tier 3 mace schematic, although I much prefer swords.
