Ally with mages- Leliana as Divine. Best ending tbh
Uh...no.

Just don't choose green.
I think the mage storyline has a lot more interesting things about it.

and this!

I like Fiona and Samson is not that bad, but I admit that Calpurnia is indeed more compelling. But that's not enough for me to choose the templar storyline. I also don't care about Barris at all.
I allied with the templars on one PT and got Cassandra as divine.
You can pick either one, as long as you conscript em Jer, both should bend the knee.
This. People keep saying pro mages or pro templars, but there are actually four choices. Forming an alliance with templars/mages would be the "pro" route, or conscript/disband them would be the "ya done screwed up, your ass is mine now" route. You can choose one story branch without supporting that group.
Side with the mages if you don't want all the rebel mages to become demons or brainwashed.
The one between the mages and the templars.
I wish I was cartoon Judge Wapner right about now...
Now I'm having flashbacks of the actual television show.
Both paths are very good, but I thought the Templars was the better of the two. I thought Champions of the Just was a slightly more interesting quest, and
Conscript mages - Cassandra Divine tbh. Best ending tbh.
Wrong. Unhardened Leliana as Divine, Ally mages, get the College of Enchanters ending.
THE BEST ending for all those who support mage freedom. Complete with new found respect earned for mages, Anders would never have thought this possible, certainly not so quickly. Too bad I had to kill him because some things can't be forgiven.
Not only that but Leliana creates the most change in the chantry. Allowing all races and genders into the chantry and unhardened Leliana keeps the church together without bloodshed.

Best ending?

What's so good about calpernia that everyone prefer her over Samson?
It's a shame we couldn't make King Radovid of Redania from the Witcher series Divine. Now there is someone who would know how to deal with mage rebellions.

I can already see Tumblr rage.
I'm conflicted. I think Champion of Just is a better quest and Calpernia is a better nemesis. But you can talk to most of the companions after Hushed Whispers. And HW has a better flow with it as you can walk around redcliffe, talking with the rebel mages there.
WHAT???
Cullen gets a personal quest if you choose MAGES? *pulls out hair* I chose templars specifically because I thought Cullen would get more story content if I help templars since he is one!!!
I thought his only quest "take lyrium yes/no" was a bit on the thin side...
One question: Who is Ser Barris?
I just finished the game for the first time and have avoided spoilers up until now like the plague.
Yes, Cullen got a quest called Before the Dawn if you side with the mages while you got Under Her Skin with Leliana when you side with templars. And Ser Barris is the knight-captain(?) from the templar order. He will be responsible for the wartable missions if you side with the templars (provided that he survived)

Its also the most unrealistic ending that you can get.

I prefer conscription on either path, because both factions dun goofed.

Says who? Its a legit ending and the best ending for mages and all those who want a more inclusive chantry.

The closest you'll get is Vivienne become the Divine when you conscript the Rebel Mages. She crushes the new mage rebellion before it could even begin, and you could say she certainly know how to get things done and deal with the upstart.

Tearing down a social contruct that has existed for ages while everyone holds hands and agree with it?
I went with the Templars for my first playthrough. I'll go with the mages in the second... whenever I get around to that.
It was difficult for me too. I'm quite resentful about having to choose between my extremely pro-mage inclinations and...Ser Barris. LOL.
I did the templar path on my first complete playthrough, but the mage path has my favorite scene of the entire series. I've seen it several times, just played it again the the other night on my current playthrough. Waterworks every time.
