Can anyone tell me what items I can sell for Gold and what needs to be kept for quests (in "Valuable" Section)?

I've not seen any thing clear on this in the "Valuables" section of inventory (or w/e it's called used to be Junk section).

I know generally not to sell the following:

Creature research items

0 gold items

...That's about it

Is everything else in that category just for selling? Seriously my OCD is killing me. Is there already a list somewhere, google only comes up with a few answers.

Thanks

Anything with a Blue background - Sell (there are a couple of exceptions, but they will be to do with ongoing quests or requisitions which you should know about)

Anything with a Yellow background - keep and hand to researcher

Anything with a Red background - ?? special snowflake

The rule of thumb I follow is:

Go to research table first, then visit a merchant and sell everything else that is not your best equipped weapon/armour/access (+ one each spare staff).

Cool I'll try it.

To be clear you all sell things like:

Dragon Awesome Amulet (400G)

Phoenix Cool Statue (250G)

Also good point about red items: Like I got Sera "funny breeches" or w/e those used later?

Malachite: used for Nevarran Burial Armor (you need 4)

Dwarven Plate/Statuette/Dragon Statuette/Something Else: used for Hissing Wastes requisition

Fereldan Medallion: Fallow Mire requisition

Spider Ichor: Storm Coast requisition, Forbidden Oasis requisition

Spider Eggs: Forbidden Oasis requisition

Those are the ones I've found. There are probably more.

Turn in your research and then sell the rest of it.

You can keep malachite if you choose (as berelinde noted, it's used in a requisition), but the other stuff either isn't worth hoarding (the dwarf junk) or is so plentiful that you'll never need to save it (the medallions and the spider goop).

Also good point about red items: Like I got Sera "funny breeches" or w/e those used later?

Just a joke item. Sell it.

But the "Dwarf Toy", (I forget which one) and some of the others turned out to be needed for Requisition Quests late in the game.

At over 250 hours invested, they were one of the reasons I gave up on being a "Completionist" on my first playthrough.

I'd keep dwarf stuff found in the Hissing Wastes, but I wouldn't be hoarding the stuff the entire game just so you can finish that requisition once you finally get there.

Due to bugs, you can never be "completionist" anyway, and the chances of getting close the first time through seem small (you need to plan how you handle requisitions since a lot of the components are dependent on enemies that can stop spawning).

If you don't find yourself limited by the storage capacity when exploring big areas, then feel free to hang on to more of the valuables, but the list here should be fairly complete (there's also an Orders item that you can find in the Hinterlands that apparently works in a requisition in the Graves, but I haven't seen that one yet).
