Outside my Inquisitor...I really like the Sister who stays in Redcliffe with the mages even after Alexius has everyone else "escorted" out.  What she said about the mages being the Maker's children and deserving the chance to prove themselves resonated with me.

I don't want Mother Giselle, and it doesn't have anything to do with what she says to Dorian.  I liked her pretty well with my Dalish, but with my devout Andrastian she lost me.  She specifically says it's better not to tell those who follow exactly what happened in the Fade.

No.  No.  No.   No.

Giselle, if you believe your deity is in control, your text and traditions are true, and that faith will see you through: you should have no problem with the Inquisitor telling everyone and their mom exactly what happened and letting them decide for themselves what to believe.  You don't get to make that decision for them.

I don't want someone like that at the head of the most powerful religious organization in Thedas.

Hey, Varric?  We've got some writing to do.  Time to tell the people what really happened.

I'd find it worth telling people, if it actually makes a difference. I really the hate the Inquisition idea for the longrun. If there's a way to destroy it, maybe this is the way to go about it. It'd be good if people stop believing in my character.

OTOH, maybe the Maker is still at work somehow.. Like Varric says, you should be dead already.

My male qunari. If you thought the halls were covered in blood with a hardened Leliana just wait until I am on the throne. The Maker's will is law!

How does one harden Leliana in DA:I?  Or is this a continuation of whether you hardened her in DA:O?  I don't remember seeing a choice like that in the Keep.

When she wants to kill, you let her kill, basically.

DA:O status doesn't matter.

Isabela...

Yes! Orgies everywhere. A vision we can all live with  :D

In all seriousness, though, I loved Vivienne for the role. Well-liked and -respected among the nobility, forward-thinking and clever (made the court mage position influential), graceful and elegant. And as a pro-Circle mage, I feel she brings the best of both sides together. On one hand, she supports the Circle and Templars, but wants them both working at their ideal (as they were in her own Circle) as opposed to the hellhole in Kirkwall. On the other, she is a mage, and as she said, only mages can truly understand other mages. Leliana and Cassandra make reforms with good intentions, but they do not understand the needs of mages as well as Vivienne does. And, to me, that a mage could rise to the position of Divine at all is itself a a far more meaningful reform than any that the other two had put into motion.

Hmm, seems I've been hardening her in all my playthroughs without realizing what I've been doing!

And as to the question of the thread: Mother Giselle.  Really, I can't see why she wasn't at least an option.

Justinia is the best thing that happened to Thedas for a while.

Leliana will go her path with more determination

Cassandra will go her path with more caution

Vivienne is just some backwater pretender that goes back to the old system that caused disaster after disaster. I don't think any of that matters to her though, she has attention and wealth now.

I wouldn't call anything in recent times as "best". It's ****** horrible to be Thedas lately. It's not necessarily Justinia's fault, but how you associate any of it as positive is beyond me.

Justinia made it much better, given Thedas, its not horrible at it. Its just a normal day. Best of thedas is merely best of worst, not simply best.

I like Mother Giselle, I just don't know if she is a leader of leaders. I feel like Cassandra is the best choice in the long run. Choosing either Vivienne or Leliana seems like dooming Thedas to repeat history.

I can think of no other serious candidate.

I think it wasn't so bad before. Like the Inquisition's task is to simply restore Order.

Restore. Meaning, it used to exist..

You have a lord seeker that wants to grab power and create dictatorship. You have mages rebelling. She is sacrificed to Corypheus in a conclave where everyone knew she could fix things and gathered, which backfired because Corypheus.

She stood against the storm but it was not enough, she fell. But Inquisitor's very existence is tied to her.

I like Mother Giselle, but this is a very good point. Though she had a lot of good qualities, this, and her machinations against Dorian, were not things I could support. And frankly, Cassandra saying "no more legends lost to the ages" is something she said that I admired and is the total opposite of what Giselle said. Not leadership material. I think it is part of what makes her a great character, she's not this perfect person.

Not rly she caused mage-templar war in first place when lambert prevented it and she destroyed what he did.So yeah in her naiviety she destroyed lives of many that lived quietly before.Plus she didn't stop mage-templar war and don't act as she would because even peoples that trusted her had big ? when it comes about it.

Not mention she was corrupted herself.

I find the Lord Seeker and Justinia both part of the problem there. They should have communicated each's concerns about the tranquil rite more.

It never seemed to me like Lambert cared to grab power, until he perceived her actions as breaking Chantry directive. He was doing the same thing Cass does in forming the Inquisition. Another person saying "Hey, this isn't the Maker's will. We're going to do it ourselves now."

Before that, he just came off like some stoic investigator. Once pushed into a corner, he tapped into the worst sides of himself.

Cole and Cass banter reveals Lambert wanted to seize power and bring the divine down way before any of that. He wanted to create a dictatorship in chantry. He was not an "investigator"

How convenient.

Oh well.

In any case, I'd say half of the people's Inquisitors now are ripe to be worse than Lambert ever was. It's so hypocritical, given our role in this game. I'll be glad when it's over.

Flemeth? Sandal?

I could actually see Hawke (certain type of course) making a decent Divine (although knowing her luck Chantry would get overrun by blighted nugs within a year)

Yeah, I DO think she's a great character - good enough that I wanted more dialog options to really argue about it.

More to say, but for some reason the toddler doesn't quite buy that "Mama's busy arguing over which pretend person is best for the fictional papacy" as a legitimate reason not to watch Sheriff Callie right now. ;)

Mother Giselle was an obvious choice but out of Cassandra, Leliana or Vivienne, The choice is still obvious...Cassandra...
