Solas + Dorian + Cole (if possible). But I had Cassy instead of Cole because I wasn't KE. Have fun!

I love Solas, but this made me ROFL so hard! XD
Glad to be of service. ![]()
To actually answer the OP: Solas and Dorian. I dragged Cole along last time but didn't get much out of him. Cassandra seems very out of her element. If you're a Dalish who actually cares a bit about the stories, leave Sera. She made me want to punch a wall. And I normally like her.

It depends on your play style, but I run around a lot without a tank. I always like to have a rogue (locks are annoying to backtrack for) and there really aren't a lot of walls to bash. I sometimes play with 3 mages and a rogue or 3 rogues and a mage. Or two tanks and 2 rogues. Haven't tried an unbalanced party on nightmare yet but it works fine on hard, particularly if you craft some nice gear. I loved running with 3 rogues and a mage in DAO, I might have done it more in DA2, but I hated to leave Fenris behind. Probably the only point where I make sure I have a tank in DAI is dragon fights - and I may change my mind on those.
I brought Solas, Cole and Cass last time. This time I'll bring Solas, Dorian and maybe Iron Bull or Sera - just depends on the mood I'm in at the time. Not a real big Viv fan with my compassionate Lavellan so she doesn't get to come this time. I rarely leave Solas behind for anything, even when I'm not romancing him because his comments are usually fascinating.

Solas, Dorian is a must. Iron Bull's nonchalant reaction to most of the dramatic mystery is fun as well.

I actually just replayed it too. It was amazing because Solas and Dorian were having all these big conversations and moments and Blackwall's contributions were "MAKER'S BALLS, WOW" and "uh please don't drink from that, babe"
He actually did have a pretty good reason for disapproving if you do the rituals--he's concerned about the men fighting and dying outside. It made a nice balance to Solas and Dorian. He doesn't seem anti Dalish tho, just out of his element. He's one of the few companions who, from my memory, seems to respect them without any qualification.

I always take Solas and Varric, with the leftover spot for whoever.
Solas because he has a lot of great dialogue, exposition, snippy banter with Morrigan, plot relevancy later on and his intereaction with Abelas.
Varric because... well, just for his hilarious reaction is when you ask him what he thinks at the Well and he basically admits that he's barely understood any of the weird nonsense that's happened since you walked in the front door!

I brought Vivienne, Dorian, and Sera.
Sera freaks out because she doesn't know whats going on and doesn't like learning. The usual.
Vivienne... We get to see an interesting, even jealous, side to her. Having her attempt to convince us NOT to trust Morrigan was cool. I wasn't sure if it was because Vivienne simply doesn't want Morrigan to succeed in any endeavour, or maybe because Morrigan truly did have ulterior motives Vivienne suspected earlier than anyone.
Dorian talks about Tevinter and is surprised to learn it wasn't as big bad Tevinter destroying the poor prosperous ancient elves. Also pretty cool.
Still, if I had known about this mission sooner or actually changed my team for it, I would have brought Solas to replace Viv/Dorian.

i went solas, cole, and dorian along with my dwarven tank... btw, did anyone take solas to wicked eyes wicked hearts? the announce him as the inquisitor's servant, then when you talk to him in the guest wing, hes happy as could be to be around all the backstabbing court intrigue.... really made me double take when he was all happy

Solas is a must, of course, and I usually bring Varric, and Blackwall. Maybe I'll bring Dorian next instead of Varric-all my quizzies are mages-since the quest doesn't seem to have anything with a lock).
I once brought Cass as my second tank, but she almost made me punch the screen, when she said to my lavellan something like "How can people have such blind faith?" and I wanted my IQ to turn and say "I could ask you the same thing" (hypocrite much?
).
Blackwall will be a little upset if you do the rituals, but has reason to, considering that soldiers are fighting outside while we stroll on funny tiles, but the temple was a sacred place for the ancient elves, so she will respect it. Besides that, he will say, for once, he is glad he's not a warden, when Cory possesses one, and he will mostly be impressed by the Temple.
One can easily assume how sera will react , and I don't really know about the rest.

I agree with almost everyone here Solas and Dorian for sure then depending on what class I am it's a random for the last spot usually Iron Bull though .

I think it is a little bit of column A and some of column B. Vivienne is clever enough to know that Morrigan has her own agenda, but also doesn't particularly care for her on principle...because she's an apostate hedge mage.

As others have said, Solas is a great choice.
I took Vivienne instead on my last playthrough, and she had an excellent snipe at Morrigan near the end. She was also really sweet when the Inquisitor asked about her opinion on the Well, don't know if that's approval based. Cole also has interesting things to say, especially if you ask him about the Well. Gives you more information on what you might be getting yourself into. Sera is a good choice if you're not into elves or magic etc. If you are, then taking her is a good way to get disapproval.
I haven't taken Dorian yet, but it sounds like he might be interesting.

For plot wise, Solas, Dorian and Cole. They each have alot to say. But gameplay wise....who knows.

I always like having Solas and Dorian there. I don't like having Sera there because of her views on Elfy things get annoying. All the others are sorta meh about it all.

I think Solas, Sera and Vivienne are very interesting ones. Vivienne is very antagonistic towards Morrigan, which is very amusing. Solas just for his knowledge alone is worth taking and Sera makes some comments about the ancient elves and has a cool scene back at skyhold if the inquisitor drank from the well. I`m not sure if it happens even if you don't take her with you. Does anyone know?
Yep that happens even if you don't take her ![]()
