damn here i was hoping for a truce for a few days XD
Well, an incredibly pointless discussion that bound to happen in an elven thread.

The way things are now, I see no chance of the religions fusing, and I honestly don't think they should. They work fine separately as religions, so it's the respective people who practice those religions that are the issue.

There really shouldn't be a truce. They're different.
Unless by truce, you mean not killing each other. I'm all for that at least. I'm just not down with syncretism. You just dilute everything that way. No one ends up knowing anything.. Chantry and elves alike.
Also, it makes for another crap setting. Like post ME3. Conflict and differences make these worlds spin around. Stop trying to fix it.

they don't really need to fuse as they aren't horribly different in many ways. In fact they may just be two different parts of the whole
the Elven Pantheon has no explanation for the creation of the world or the Fade
That's true.
At the same time, that doesn't warrant the level of confidence and defiance they displayed over the years. That's all I'm saying.
Their religion is criminalized, human lords and lynch mobs drive them off land when they stay too long, templars hunt them down, and they are threatened with conversion. The Dalish also lead lives of hardship. I don't see what's wrong with them being proud of who they are. Even Lavellan can admit they are imperfect people and be proud of being Dalish, because he finds value in the culture.
And to wage war in the Dales back in the day? Even dumber.
This would be a bad time to point out Orlais declared war, then.
I'm pretty sure the Chant of Light greatly discourages worshiping gods other than the Maker:
These truths the Maker has revealed to me:
As there is but one world,
One life, one death, there is
But one god, and He is our Maker.
They are sinners, who have given their love
To false gods.
but the Chantry doesn't name the Old Gods of Tevinter something else, it still names them Gods, not on par with the Maker, but still Gods
This would be a bad time to point out Orlais declared war, then.
after elves were pouring into their lands....
not even you can blame them for that

They didn't declare war in a vacuum.

Well, there's some hope; there's Skyhold, where you have Andrastian humans, dwarves, Dalish elves, and potentially even Qunari working together under the same roof. There's Wycome, where the Dalish and the Andrastian elves can end up as leaders of the city-state, among others on the council, after Clan Lavellan rescue the humans from red lyrium poisoning and stay to defend the elves of the Alienage.

This is the kind of crap I hate about this game. So open as to be make the Inquisition meaningless. Toss in Cole, and you go beyond syncretism, and start drumming up messages about what a reality and flesh even is. Might as well go full gusto and just tear down the veil.. Make everyone mages and hug in a big magical racial/religon free fairy land. /cue ME3 Synthesis
I like DAI in general, but not this. It's stop becoming fun fantasy storytelling, and like the wishlist for some weenie who can't stand conflict.

The story of Elgar'nan has the land itself bring forth life as a gift to him, so they do have somewhat of a creation myth.

but where did the land come from
I don't think the elves ever followed the Andrastian faith.
but where did the land come from
From the Stone!
And don't forget the sword in it.

Besides ****ing Shartan himself anyway.
You figure a heroic figure would inspire more loyalty to the God that ****ing freed them.
Yes.. and that's why I'm losing sympathy.. a little at least. They decided to listen some other dude apparently. Some Keeper or Keepers.. not the guy who gave his life for them.
The Chantry needs to remember him though. There's no excuse for removing him.

ARTHUR
but where did the land come from
Same place as the Sun did...

The Moon, however, came from Mythal. I think.
Just not the Sun and Land. ![]()

Yes, it seems to recognize gods, but it says it is a sin to worship them. Which is why I get the impression that they wouldn't combine.
well I can't fault them for it when the Old Gods unleashed the Blight upon the world, after demanding horrid sacrifices

You're losing sympathy for the elves because they didn't convert to Andraste's religion? That's ridiculous. The elves weren't under any obligation to give up their own faith to follow Andraste's. They participated in the battles against the Imperium, fighting along Tevinter with everyone else.

The Dalish remember Shartan.

The Dalish remember Shartan.
And that's one of the cool things they have up on the Chantry.
The Dalish remember Shartan.
well of course, its not like they ever drop an opportunity to be angry about something that happened centuries ago
