Yes, because someone who caused that much awe in someone would have affected elves too.. for better or worse. They wouldn't just see someone like that in some casual sense. Even if they didn't believe in her.

 

The impressions of one single human are supposed to be reflective of how the elves perceived Andraste? The Guardian was a believer in the Maker, and in Andraste; that doesn't mean the elves shared his religious views.

People would catch on if they venerated these "saints" too much though. The Chantry teaching isn't monothesistic per se.. but deistic. Rather than theistic. Only Andraste and the Maker get real reverence. And they left. Saints are heroes for their time, at best.. fighting the good fight in a world without an intervening god. If someone started building shrines to them, it might raise questions.

You underestimate the subtlety of individuals. Something done in secret, in the guise of traditions common to the dominant religion, is hardly likely to draw much suspicion on the surface. But good point about Andrastian theology being moreso deistic in nature. I'd forgotten about that aspect.
