I'm wondering if there are any other players who couldn't wait for the time they'll finally be able to get a PS4 and purchased DAI right away.

The question is, does the difference in the graphics bother you?

I have the game on PS3 and whilst I would have liked scars the graphics don't really brother me, sure it might not be as good as the PS4 version but at the same time it's not terrible, on par if not better than skyrim and that was a good looking game.

The main issue for however me is playability and in my case I've had a few bugs and game freezes (mostly in Haven oddly enough) but I've been able to play and complete the game twice now so I'm happy with my purchase.

Yes, you bet it bothers me!

We paid $99.95 for the ps3 deluxe disc edition in Australia and I am not happy about many things with this game.  Heck, the ps4 deluxe disc version was only $10 more!  It was obviously rushed, shoved and kicked out the door (fighting and screaming to save itself) to grab our xmas $$!  Well EA/bioware you have our money, now how about delivering on that promise that ps3/xb360 players would get the same experience as those other more fortunate souls (with nextgen consoles)!

The graphics are shoddy (compare with Tomb Raider, The Last of Us and Skyrim for example), there is grass growing in most of the houses I have visited, and it is waving around in the breeze, I can hear the sounds of battle in the Hinterlands but there is no-one there, plus I have drum "music", it's a stretch to call it music, constantly for hours in the Hinterlands and it nearly drives me crazy!  In this case, the silence bug would have been better, and that is saying something!  :( (Sometimes I am lucky and have no drums).  Ok, so I can kinda live with all that......but.......

The worst thing though, is the RIDICULOUSLY SMALL, UNREADABLE TEXT SIZE!  (Getting my own back for the drums! ;) )  I have a newish 32" HD tv (and HD cable, and a new ps3) and I just had to move my chair till it's about 3 feet away from the tv, but alas I still can't read most of it.  To release a game in this state is shameful!  Please EA/Bioware fix the textsize if nothing else, because in this state you have not released a game that is enjoyable or playable to it's full potential (because I am guessing as to what is going on and don't know what to do most of the time).  I really, really hope you are not going to forget us ps3/360 players in regard to patches! :(

I play on the ps3 and have minor issues, but I can deal with them. I've done 5 playthroughs and started a 6th playthrough a short time ago.

I bet it wouldn't bother as much without texture-pop in's, them not loading and shiny bug.

I bought the PS3 version and did two playthroughs not realizing I was going to get a PS4 for xmas.  I got the PS4 version on sale and hoo boy, it's light years better.  The faces look more realistic and animated (with wrinkles and scars), you can see all of the clothing textures, the landscape is crisp and gorgeous.  It's also much much smoother with no audio lags during cinematics.  Sometimes on the PS3 all of the textures wouldn't finish popping in until the NPC's second or third sentence.  In retrospect I think it's pretty bad that they even bothered with a PS3 version (and I assume Xbox 360 is just as bad), or at least they should have charged much less for it.

My biggest gripe with PS3 version is the small text size..

The texture pop-ins annoy at times, but that's the only thing I can pin on the console limitations.

The text size is too small, but that's been true of ALL Bioware games I've played no matter the platform. I started Origins on the PC this past week and still had to strain a bit.

I first bought it for my ps3, did my first/canon playthrought on that,, then apparently my country joined with America and par took in the stupidity that is Black Friday, so I was able to get a relatively cheap brand new PS4, and bought DA:I for that.
I own two copies of ever dragon age game now, DA:O/A and DA2 for PC and PS3, and now DAI for PS3 and 4.

Yes I am a sucker.
It wasn't the graphics that made me upgrade, more like the next to no memory my ps3 had left.

I didn't give it much thought until I met Iron Bull for the first time yesterday.

I swear there were no textures on the guy. He looked weird and completely pale.

Then I made a little search to learn about the differences, and oh man.

I can't help thinking the only reason they released the game for the PS3 and Xbox360 was so people would regret it and end up buying it a second time for the new gen.

Anyways, taxes are merciless where I live. Wanna know how much a PS4 costs here? Between 850$ and 1100$.

Well EA/bioware you have our money, now how about delivering on that promise that ps3/xb360 players would get the same experience as those other more fortunate souls (with nextgen consoles)!

What promise?

"The visual fidelity differences are huge. For example, the shaders you can put on the characters through different weather systems. The build up system we have, like when you walk through mud, the mud builds up on the leg, then if you’re in a fight, blood goes on top of the mud. One of our graphics programmers took a nug and overlayed all these different things on it. Eventually it looked like a nug that had been dipped in chocolate because there was so much stuff that was put on top of it. That’s all the power you can get from the gen four stuff. You’ll see that sort of a difference. The spell visual effects are incredible on the gen four and high-end PC. On gen three they will be much lower fidelity. Seeing Vivienne bringing up that big fire storm is brilliant on gen four and high-end PC. That’s the kind of stuff that will make this a gen four experience."

By producer Cameron Lee.

Do you see the bastard saying the PS3/360 version still is good within their limitations? No. He basically tells the fools who fell for this easy cash in that they should pay more money for a new gen copy.

What surprises me the most is when someone says it "looks good for a PS3 game".

It's far too soon to forget what a PS3 game looks like.

" At least it looks better than Origins" won't cut it either. The game already was outdated when it came out.

Not really. I knew going into it that it wasn't going to match the PS4 version when it comes to graphics. The main thing for me was that it would still be the same game as it is on other platforms. No missing main/side quests or scenes cut out because the PS3 version couldn't handle it. Things like that.

Of course it wouldn't look like a PS4 game.

I did, however, expect it to look as good as other PS3 games. Especially the recent ones.

Are you comparing apples to apples here? Party RPGs on PS3 to other party RPGs?

Yes, unfortunately...

It looks like crap on PS3 compared to PS4/XBone, although I haven't had too many issues with it. I was going to wait until I bought a PS4 to get it, but my mum got it for me as a present and she was all "ohh you like these games don't you". What was I supposed to do lol. I'll just put up with shiny Sera and texture pop in.

The game looks so crisp on my Xbox one, and I'm sure its looks just as smooth on PS4. Most say its best experienced on the current gen consoles because PC controls are a mess.

I considered selling it, but in the end I decided the game is way too much fun to pass up just because of the graphics.

But I won't get a PS4 copy, that I won't.

I refuse to reward such a dirty maneuver. You give PS3 gamers a lazy product, they regret obtaining it and then buy the game for the second time to play it on a PS4.

Twice the profit, yay.

why do people think it was an "dirty Maneuverer"  PS4/Xbone have better software so can produce better graphics they even outright stated this... all game content however is the same...do you think they purposely made the old gen version look worst? they did the best with the 10 year old software

I suppose one could argue it's been an year since PS4/XBONE came out so it should only be on next gen but then DAI was originally suppose to come out in late 2013 but was delayed. There are also main dragon age fans who haven't upgraded yet (me included) who wanted to play the game, likewise being on PS3/360 you can play all three without having to switch consoles...

At the end of the day would you have prefer to get the game now with lesser graphics and play or wait (In my case for example) most of the year until you get the next gen system? at which point there are probably other games you want to play or alternatively pick up the GOTY version (and get the DLC for free)

I feel for you PS3 gamers, I own a PS3 (and a 360) but decided to go with the PC version (even with my not so stellar rig) and I'm glad I did. I hope bioware make a patch someday that at least fix the shiny plastic hair that you have.

One thing I don't understand is taking out the scars option.

I can see Cassandra's scar just fine, what makes them think it couldn't be implemented?

It's 10 years of evolution.

Early PS3 games looked nothing like GTA V, Uncharted 2 and 3 or TLOU.

And like I said, the issue isn't that it doesn't look as good as the PS4 version. The problem is looking inferior to other PS3 games.

From the Feedback and Suggestions Forum, the thread titled:

Old gen (PS3 and XBOX360) master thread, Bioware please fix these issues!

Also I believe that there is false marketing part involved as well since they said game wouldn't be lacking on 3rd gen consoles and I even found this interview: "Neil Thompson, the director of art and animation from BioWare has shared in an interview with VG247 that the dev team behind Dragon Age 3: Inquisition will be channeling all their efforts towards giving players a great looking game on both gen 3 consoles PS3 and Xbox 360. “We’ve probably pushed them further than we ever have before. When you’re trying to take a gen 4 experience and put it on a gen 3 console without compromise then by necessity you’re pushing those consoles really hard,” Thompson told VG247. Clearly, the PS4 and Xbox One will have an advantage from the graphics standpoint, but the aesthetics of the game will be about the same on both generations of consoles. “It’s tough,” he added. “We want people to have the same satisfying experience no matter what platform they play it on. From a graphical perspective the gen 4 versions look more dense, but in terms of the aesthetic of the game they should be the same across platforms.”

Link to whole article: http://www.loadthega...n-ps3-xbox-360/

So only info we got when preordering or reserving game was couple interview like these on articles where BW stated game would fullfill potential of old gen consoles and there wasn't anything to be worried about. So honestly at least I thought I the game would be even better as ME3 and DA2 since it's newer than those and they said they fullfilled potential of the consoles..

.....End of Panda's post.

“We want people to have the same satisfying experience no matter what platform they play it on. From a graphical perspective the gen 4 versions look more dense, but in terms of the aesthetic of the game they should be the same across platforms.”

The above quote, is the major reason I went ahead and bought the game for ps3, but even though they may have wanted us to have the same satisfying experience, I really don't think they achieved that level of satisfaction for most of us lastgen players.

If DAI would be up to Bioware's own par in the PS3 I wouldn't have any problems with it. If the performance and visuals would be DA2's or ME3's level I'd be very happy with the game. But really Bioware lowered their own par with their newest game which doesn't make any sense, one would except they would go above it since the game is newer and "Dragon Age game they always wanted to make".

I only decided to get it for the PS3 because I'll only buy a PS4 in the end of this year.

That is, if I do at all.

Still, my PS3 days are numbered and I don't like leaving great games behind.

That's one of the things that make me wish I'd gotten this game for the PS4 instead. It would last longer then.

Kinda funny when someone says the game is glitchy on the PS3 because it can't handle it.

It already is a watered down version of the real thing. It's not like actually trying to run a PS4 level game.
