Why does the game have so many females, specially at the beginning. I created a female character and then just right after the opening cinematic I had to deal with two other women (Cassandra and Liliana) and no male character at all. There were also mentions of Justinia (deceased leader of Chantry) and she was also female.

It felt like a complete female-fest or something.

So I deleted my female character and created a male character.

Just thought I should share this fact , as it did bother me a lot to see females in the decision making position and no males at all. Not sure what was bioware's fascination with putting females in every place of power, at the beginning of the game. I haven't the played the game past the opening mission, so I don't know what awaits me next.

But from what I have seen so far, seriously discouraged me from playing a female character, as I want my game worlds to be balanced among genders.

Overall, the Inquisition ends up with a higher male population than female. At least among the Inner Circle. If you recruit everyone, there is 7 men and 5 women in it.

I'd say it's 5 men. 5 women. One bull-like thing. And an abomination.

3 women and 1 man in the real/core Inquisition.

Cole isn't an abomination since he isn't possessing anything. But okay: 6 males, 5 females, and 1 spirit if you recruit everyone.

Created persistent material (a body) out of thin air?

Troubling... But whatever.

Two female characters at the beginning. Sounds rough.

Yep. We see it happen quite often actually. Shades are Fade entities who are physically in Thedas rather than possessing something. If a spirit or demon is strong enough, they can do the same thing if they have a way to Thedas. There are a few Desire and Pride demons that have.

I'll go ahead and answer seriously.

Because the Inquisition is an off-shoot of the Chantry, and it is matriarchal because Andrastianism's messiah was female, and therefore Chantry leadership follows in her footsteps by making the leadership positions exclusively for women. (Which is comparable to real life sects of Christianity that are exclusively patriarchal for the same reason among others.)

It's story-driven because the story begins with a conclave called by the Chantry, an organization with women as its front-line leaders.  Had the conclave been called by the Wardens, perhaps we would have seen more men. (It does seem strange that most of the Circles we see are run by women, I'll give you that.) Besides, the guys all left in a huff because the Chantry didn't want them to annul every circle in Thedas. (Gotta have a few mages to take to war, ya know.)

Yeah, I knew that about Shades. I wonder if that's what he originally was.

Still sucks though.. He's like the new Legion. Nice guy, but just... troubles me. Bioware has a hardon for trying to make people redefine what humanity is or not. I dislike it. But that's another discussion. :P

It bothered you a lot to see women in the decision making, seriously? Why don't we look to the fact that it was almost always, exclusively men in the decision making process in games for the last 2 decades..When it's been two decades of nothing but women making decisions, then we'll talk OP.

If it were the reverse, and there were a disproportionate number of men in power, would you make the same complaint?

I like it, personally. As a guy, I mean. But I play a male Inquisitor as well, so it feels balanced out.

There isn't one female I dislike either.. a few males though.

So you couldn't wait to see what else was in store beyond the first five minutes of the game before you posted about it on the internet?

That's probably because you're socially conditioned by patriarchal  governments, to think of mostly men in power.
