So... thinking about making a graph to show how bad Mother Giselle's breath is.
What's the best program to use?
MS paint..

I feel your pain OP.
Oh, wait. No, I don't.
Does that make me a sexist, whaddya think?
I think people dismissing the OP because they don't agree with his/her comments or those who try to derail the topic by posting cookie recipes should have their posts removed as trolling. Seriously, if you can't have a serious discussion, don't post in the topic! Mods need to do their work. It's not okay to troll (which isn't the case here) but it's okay to troll the troll?
I honestly noticed this as well. There might be more male characters in your companions but that's it. There are a disproprotionate amount of women holding power compared to men, or women characters who are more fleshed-out than men. When I say holding power, I mean when you come across groups of people, of troups, or whatever, the majority of the times, the leader will be a woman. When I say fleshed-out, I mean that have more dialogue or are more developed. Here are just some examples:
Harding
Celene
Briala
Dagna
the woman who gives you requisitions
Commander Jehen in Citadelle du Corbeau in the Exalted Plains
the woman you meet if you choose the mountain path in the intro
All the Chantry women (Divine Justinia, Mother Giselle, etc.)
Sergeant Merseault in Fort Revesan
All the dragons which seem to all be female
And this doesn't include any of the codex entries about women in power, which were quite numerous. Not to mention the strong focus on Andrasté and the female elvan gods.
I too felt that Bioware was being a little too politically correct by having so many women in power. I definitely would say the game was about 70/30 or 65/35 in favor of female characters. The argument that in real life, women in the middle ages didn't tend to have positions of power is a valid one, because men are generally bigger and physically stronger and thus it is understandable why more men were in positions of power. That fact has not changed in the DA universe. A few strong females in the DA universe wouldn't bother me, but when it's made to seem like the DA universe is female dominated, you can't stop but ask what Bioware was trying to accomplish. Give women the impression of being empowered? Be politically correct or "progressive" or whatever?
I also had a problem with the overdose of lesbianism and female bisexuality, but that will be the subject of its own topic once I can go through the game again and note down all pertinent examples.
Point of clarification:
I have been posting cupcake recipes, not cookie recipes. Though now that I think about it, cookie recipes might have been more appropriate. I could even come up with individual recipes, in honor of Sten and Carroll! Chocolate Asalas and Queen of Antiva's Delights!
Must buy more flour...

You know, it was only the other day I suggested that Bioware release a Dragon Age cookbook. Terry Pratchett did it for the Discworld series...
Okay, so, I'm going to geek out a little bit, and I apologize if it makes no sense, but I am really excited about this.
See, I make beer in my closet. Homebrewing; it's an awesome hobby. And I have totally been going through my recipe books because the next thing i want to make is Conscription Ale.
But I'm having a really hard time deciding what kind of beer it should be. My initial impulse is to make it a red ale, for the color. But I know when I brew it, it's going to be a cloudy red and not a clear red like you get with commercial beers. So then I'm wondering if I should make something hoppy, for bitterness' sake? Or should I make it black as night? Or try and do both with an Imperial stout?
Argh, so many decisions!
Dragon age Universe is in Thedas, which is not really Middle Age Europe or any equivalent era from earth. Leliana & Cassandra are both capable & competent. And even in RL Middle ages there are MANY capable women taking the lead of thousands of men.
Why shouldn't women be in the lead? Because it must always be men? WTF?

Aaaah talking about cookies, I do have very good recipe. You want one? ![]()
They must have a lot of cheese dishes but I'm wondering if it's only in Ferelden? ![]()

The answer to that question is always 'yes'!

You could always be controversial and go for an IPA?
Yeah, but I personally don't care for IPAs. I'd want to make a beer I'd enjoy drinking, and IPA/super hoppy beers are the only style I don't really enjoy.

I could have taken OP seriously according to first posts but the later posts from him pretty much reveal him as troll.
DA series still has more important male characters than female though it's quite close to equal. How ever why it's completely fine to have disproprotionate amount of male characters in any fantasy/action/scifi media but not equal amount of women and men? Why it's disproprotionate and wrong when it comes to having good women characters and lot of them, some in positions of power?
I'm not a beer drinker but I have a particular dislike for them too
I personally think conscription ale could be something along the lines of a milk stout?
Oooh... the last milk stout I made went over really well (the secret ingredient was dried juniper berries). I may have to go that route!

That sounds amazing! We're having our first go at homebrewing this year, I'm quite excited about it even if I probably won't drink any of it
I cheer you on!
I don't know how you feel about mead, but it's extremely easy to make at home if you already have the basic beer making equipment! The only drawback is that it takes about a year to ferment properly, thanks to honey's intrinsic antibiotic properties. Turns out it applies to yeast, too! I'm told you can squeak by with six months, but I have never tried that.
Well this home brew conversation just brought back repressed memories of when my uncle tried home brewing using a trash can uh the flies we got from it my poor coat falling in to the mixture and sopping up the stinky peachy mess, that closest still smells like that stuff too.

Ugh, homebrew fail! You can get some decent quality brew equipment for an initial outlay of about $60-$70; no trash can or flies required!

Very much a fail, don't know what he would do with it if it had worked though (though he was using a plastic cheap trash can and tin foil so it had no chance at all) drinking isn't allowed in the house so even if it worked he couldn't do much with it. At least it kept him from doing it again, I enjoy the smell of liquor but that stuff was rank. (I think he might have known he didn't need a trash can and could use better stuff but he can be quite cheap some times.
)

/shudder
I have to wonder what he hoped to make?

Back to topic, I did some counting & can't understand the OP's concern.
Prominent male characters who are leaders in their own right, in the whole game (OK, not only at the beginning I admit):
- IB (Chargers)
- Cullen (Inquisition army), formerly leading the Templars of Kirkwall pre-DA:I
- Ser Barris (the rest of the Templars)
- Lord Seeker Lucius (he went batty in the end, still he was a leader. That Cass had great respect for him before Envy took over is something)
Prominent female characters who are leaders in their own right
- Leliana (Spymaster)
- Vivienne (the rest of Loyal Mages)
- Fiona (Rebel Mages)
- Clarel (Grey Wardens)
Cass does not even really "lead" in DA:I. She has leading capability alright but left it afterwards.
Well... hmm... am I missing anyone or this 4:4?
Hmmm I dunno, the mods seem to be awful leisurely these days. We might make it to page 50.
Probably because the threads are getting so ridiculous they find them entertaining
