bounces

I wanna hear this story!!

Well a long time ago in a forum section not so far away, there lived a simple man named Auld Wulf.  He was not one of the titans of debate in the forum, he did not have friends on here, or those who would stand by him, and for a while he lay quiet.

No what he had was much more valuable, a total lack of any semblance of sanity or faculties for reason.

Moving quickly one day he started opening his threads, detailing why he believed synthesis was the best outcome in ME3, merging all organic and synthetic life.  That alone was enough to roll some eyes, but he was only getting warmed up.  Next he took the the debates of the Geth/Quarian, where he headcanoned scenarios so extreme you'd think drugs were involved in its creation and I honestly can't disprove that idea.

For months he reigned on the forums spouting his nonsensical drivel and any who would listen, and many more who did not.  However his fantacism was later his undoing.

In his righteous fury he declared all those who opposed his ideas "genocide fetishists" (including yours truly).  This was the beginning of the end for our dear Wulfie.  Soon he turned the mods against him, who had been content to let him ramble on with his rantings, but he had now crosses the line into personal attacks.

But he wasn't done, not by a long shot.  He would have the last word no matter what.  He created two blog posts.  One lamenting the horrid state of the community on BSN, calling it a cesspit worse than 4Chan.  The other was his stupendous swan song that scolded the moderators on the forum as "mouth breathers" who served at the behest of those less enlightened.  He was silenced later that week for good.

There are other stories to tell about the Wulf but we are all lesser for his passing.

No it is more like "My family is on the dark side and I don't really want to be there but it appears all hope is lost so I am just going to toddle on over and have a awkward embrace with the man that threatened to murder my family if I didn't commit murder myself" moment.

Draco, I am your Father! Said Voldemort after singing the Trololo. And you wonder why he made that face?

How is it misogynist to point out something that's completely at odds with itself.

When it comes to physical strength, women suck........they are the worst of the worst (1 man = 4 women in term of physical strength). A woman bearing a shield, is something that is near impossible. Only may be 1 in 10,000 women will have physique strong enough to efficiently manage and use the shield.

I dunno -- my male elf warrior looks like a strong breeze could blow him away. And if you play on, look out -- 3 of your 4 major advisors are women. :)

Oh, and I don't recommend using corn oil if you use this recipe. Tastes too much like cornbread if you do, and chocolate and corn just don't go together. Olive oil tends to work quite well, and though I haven't used it, I'm sure coconut oil would be fantastic for a recipe like this!

Sadly, it isn't vegan.  =(

I too felt that Bioware was being a little too politically correct by having so many women in power. I definitely would say the game was about 70/30 or 65/35 in favor of female characters. The argument that in real life, women in the middle ages didn't tend to have positions of power is a valid one, because men are generally bigger and physically stronger and thus it is understandable why more men were in positions of power. That fact has not changed in the DA universe. A few strong females in the DA universe wouldn't bother me, but when it's made to seem like the DA universe is female dominated, you can't stop but ask what Bioware was trying to accomplish. Give women the impression of being empowered? Be politically correct or "progressive" or whatever?

Why is this a problem? Are physical size and strength *really* the most important attributes of leadership? Even in our world, I'd say no -- and in a world with magic, like Thedas? Being magically gifted might be more important. What's your problem, anyway? If Thedas were male dominated, you wouldn't even notice, I'll bet -- because that's "normal." Sorry, what you've said here *is* de facto sexist.

I also had a problem with the overdose of lesbianism and female bisexuality, but that will be the subject of its own topic once I can go through the game again and note down all pertinent examples.

Until I can recruit Cass, we don't have enough, in my opinion.

IB got a very good line on this subject actually. Being the leader does not mean being the most talented or the strongest. But able to pick make the hard choices & assume the consequences, being inspirational to the people you lead.

Both Cass & Leliana did the hard things to go against the Chantry & build the Inquisition from scratch, when they were previously loyal to the Chantry. It's hard decision & tough for both of these people. They assume it, and continue. They are leaders each in their own right.

My, my... This forum has seen some ****... :)

As for taking the topic seriously, and discussing it maturely... It is difficult (though not impossible) to have a mature conversation about a sensitive topic on a web forum. It is refreshing to see so many well written female characters in positions of power in a video game, where women are often presented as mere eye candy. But, has this aspect of DA turned away the majority of the male player demographic? I have the feeling that it did not. So, complaining about the subject is probably not going to lead anywhere, except more delightful Trololo songs :D

The Chantry is led by women. The Inquisition formed out of former Chantry heads. Ipso facto.

I don't think that there are too many female characters in the game, but I think there are too many powerfull people who turn out to be female. I don't have a problem with powerfull women, but I also don't like the fact that only very few powerfull people are men. Andraste and Justinia have a big role in the game. leliana, cassandra and vivienne can become the next divine, morrigan is very powerfull and storyrelevant and she knows more about the world than most other characters. flemeth is an important character in the whole series, too. The empress of Orlais is female. The leader of the wardens was female. Yes, there are more male companions, but most of the companions are far less relevant than the npc female characters. The only really important male character is Solas (beside the enemy plus his minion who are male as well).
