yea Iike I said I just started, I don't know what awaits me next. But at the start all the prominent characters I came across were females so it didn't feel right.

All two of them?

...Seriously, immediately after you meet two prominent male characters.

What the hell, the IB thread hasn't even been closed yet, bad threads are breeding even faster these days, you kids get off my lawn!!! I have dishes to do, I can't possibly respond in clever and flippant ways to all of them. Smh. Calm down.

And if the first two we met were prominent male characters, it probably wouldn't have felt wrong to you... I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, but it's just that we're used to seeing the same thing so much that it's suddenly weird when two important characters who appear at the start of the game are women, and that's sad.

Is it already time for Doctor Who .gifs and derailing pictures of Loghain being a DILF? And can Iron Bull's penis get involved somehow?

So you couldn't wait to see what else was in store beyond the first five minutes of the game before you posted about it on the internet?

I just wanted to share my first impression of the game.

Those women are the worst though, those first five minutes, that bewb to dong ratio was emotionally distressing for me too.

This thread will descend into chaos and deepest shadow, where neither light nor reason dwell.

Someone (I sadly forget who) made a quite good joke elsewhere that if you roll a Qunari Inquisitor, you can roleplay it that you're either unintentionally (or purposefully) subverting Thedas by implimenting the Qun under their very noses, since you have women running diplomacy and espionage, while you have a man in charge of the army...

Strange, so if they were 2 male characters at the beginning it would have been more normal?
There are THREE female companions and SIX male ones if that makes you happy

Your impression of the first scene in the game.

Know what? I wash my hands of it. No wonder the Maker left.

Nah let's let this dude backtrack some more about equality and how it can totally be natural for women to lead it was just WEIRD and why are you bringing in sexism all I SAID was that it was a "female fest" because there are a few important female characters, wow, stop making everything so political I know a woman, ok!!!

Wait I did it for him, do whatever you want.

OP....if this is genuine... then sorry for being so flippant...it's just kind of sad that we have to reassure you that "don't worry the companions are balanced so that there are more men overall" or whatever. You're the head of a religious institution in a fantasy land where women rule the religious institutions and you're surprised there are a lot of women at first?

Just keep playing, hopefully it will feel less weird eventually and this can be a new experience for you, taking you out of your comfort zone, character growth, that kind of stuff.

Why does the game have so many females, specially at the beginning. I created a female character and then just right after the opening cinematic I had to deal with two other women (Cassandra and Liliana) and no male character at all. There were also mentions of Justinia (deceased leader of Chantry) and she was also female.

It felt like a complete female-fest or something.

So I deleted my female character and created a male character.

Just thought I should share this fact , as it did bother me a lot to see females in the decision making position and no males at all. Not sure what was bioware's fascination with putting females in every place of power, at the beginning of the game. I haven't the played the game past the opening mission, so I don't know what awaits me next.

But from what I have seen so far, seriously discouraged me from playing a female character, as I want my game worlds to be balanced among genders.

Because it just doesn't make sense to see women in decision making positions in older times, because mostly women weren't even considered capable of making decisions in older times, hell bible don't even allow women to teach in schools because of their lesser intelligence (specially to male children). Men have always been considered true power and it just felt completely out of place to see a woman calling the shots.

And a thin templar woman like Cassandra carrying a heavy shield, honestly a woman of her physicality is not given for this kind of labour. Blocking a strong bash on her shield would result her arm to dislocated from her shoulder socket.

If Cassandra was a priest or a mage then it would have made sense, but her physique is not the physique of a shield maiden and besides it appears to be highly unlikely that old religeous school will put a woman in charge of a fighting squad.

These were my first impressions of the game.

But I love Bioware, I loved Baldur's Gate and some of their other productions, thats why i will still play this game. I am sure this game has much to offer in the way of game play. I am pretty sure game play would be awesome.

She's not a typical "shield maiden" type. She's more of a duelist, with a shield. And kind dresses light, like a Rogue. She's a Seeker.. and has kind of hybrid magic abilities.

As for her authority, the Chantry is run by women.. and she and Leliana are the right and left hands of the Divine.

This isn't our world, this is Thedas. Thedas isn't our olden times. That argument is irrelevant.

And after reading that 'lesser intelligence' BS, I'm off to help derail this thread until it's locked.
