I have watched both, for some reason I own Gungrave as dvd-box too.
 
They aren't my favorite anime's but pretty enjoyable. Trigun's movie I found better than the actual series, as character I liked most was the priest with guns ^^
 
Gungrave had one of best anime death scenes, the one in the elevator, you surely know what I'm talking about. So dramatic!

Oh yes, the elevator. So much. But none better for me than the last scene at the old broken down restaurant they used to hang at. All the feels.

I have the Trigun and Gungrave boxes sitting right next to each other, actually. And I have Trigun's manga as well. But there are loads of others I like too. I'm currently following Parasyte, which is a new anime from an old manga. It's a horror anime which I usually don't go for but this one I like. Of course, since I already own the books and read them ages ago there aren't really very many surprises but it's still pretty amazing to see all of it in animation and sound.

Why does the game have so many females, specially at the beginning. I created a female character and then just right after the opening cinematic I had to deal with two other women (Cassandra and Liliana) and no male character at all. There were also mentions of Justinia (deceased leader of Chantry) and she was also female.

 

It felt like a complete female-fest or something.

 

So I deleted my female character and created a male character.

 

Just thought I should share this fact , as it did bother me a lot to see females in the decision making position and no males at all. Not sure what was bioware's fascination with putting females in every place of power, at the beginning of the game. I haven't the played the game past the opening mission, so I don't know what awaits me next.

 

But from what I have seen so far, seriously discouraged me from playing a female character, as I want my game worlds to be balanced among genders.

I have to agree. If feels like over compensation to some extent. However, given that it is a female run organization I can also kind of see where they wanted to go with this story (or lack of a story). It definitely had too much estrogen.

Cole isn't an abomination since he isn't possessing anything. But okay: 6 males, 5 females, and 1 spirit if you recruit everyone. 

Darius really should not be count as male. He's too much like my "girlfriends" to count him on that one. Sorry, he's carrying around the estrogen in a bottle.

Because it just doesn't make sense to see women in decision making positions in older times, because mostly women weren't even considered capable of making decisions in older times, hell bible don't even allow women to teach in schools because of their lesser intelligence (specially to male children). Men have always been considered true power and it just felt completely out of place to see a woman calling the shots. 

 

And a thin templar woman like Cassandra carrying a heavy shield, honestly a woman of her physicality is not given for this kind of labour. Blocking a strong bash on her shield would result her arm to dislocated from her shoulder socket. 

 

If Cassandra was a priest or a mage then it would have made sense, but her physique is not the physique of a shield maiden and besides it appears to be highly unlikely that old religeous school will put a woman in charge of a fighting squad.

 

These were my first impressions of the game. 

 

But I love Bioware, I loved Baldur's Gate and some of their other productions, thats why i will still play this game. I am sure this game has much to offer in the way of game play. I am pretty sure game play would be awesome.

First of all the real history your referring to was written by men for men. We will never really know about the matriarchal societies because this has been squashed out for control purposes. God forbid a woman be smarter than a man. (LOL). I see Cassandra in a different light. Yes, women have different physical attributes but there are some, like Cassandra, who can open up a can of whoop ass on just about anyone. She may not have the Mr. Universe physic but she as a warrior would have learned to adjust her fighting style to her strengths. She most likely had to train very hard but that is an unmentioned attribute displayed in the cut scenes. She also may have used adapted equipment. I am assuming that a good crafts person can balance the weight of an item to be user specific. So, even though Cassandra seems very mannish in some respects I would not count her out on skill, speed or even more than average strength for a girl. That would leave you underestimating her abilities and the can of whoop ass chew them up and spit them out would commence.  The ending  possibly giving the opponent a good spanking too boot.

I don't have a tumblr so I don't know what kind of gifs are up there - you might have already seen the worst of it. It is fairly graphic in some places, there is some blood and guts and the Parasytes in question are alien creatures that form (human flesh/muscle colored) bladed tentacles to fight and sometimes produce eyes and teeth in places where there shouldn't be eyes and teeth. But a lot of it is also psychological, almost thriller like, as we see the protagonist slowly changing under the influence of all the stuff he's going through. I think it's quite fascinating, but it depends on your tolerance for the more graphic stuff.

Also, the anime lady you posted, is that Oscar? I've heard of her but never actually seen Rose of Versailles. Now I'm curious about that too.

Durarara is very good anime, one of my favs. It has bunch of main characters.. and I forgot to include one of female characters there as my fav one's so I should do that now:

Yep that's Oscar from Lady Oscar/Rose of Versailles. That anime goes with both names but same anime. It's quite old historical anime with some battles, drama and romance. Quite nice but can be hard to find..
