In Origins, Male Human Noble Cousland romanced Zevran - every time I played it :)

DA2 Male Mage Hawke romanced Fenris, I tried to romance the others, but quit those games and started new one where he romanced Fenris again.

DA:I Male Mage Trevelyan romanced Dorian, again, the same thing as with Fenris, started out with good intentions of going through all the romances but couldn't bring myself to romance anyone other than Dorian. I also played a Male Lavellan who romanced Dorian, but I think of the Trevelyan one as my canon, as that was my first playthrough.

DAO

Always Zevran, tried Alistair once with my CE, but I really didin't like his romance and never did it again. Leliana was fun, too, but I mostly end up with Zev.

DA2

Anders (nearly always - Isabella is fun too - surprisingly, didn't like her that much in the beginning)

DAI

I'm still in my first playthrough, but my dalish rogue Lyana romanced Blackwall, which is kind of nice. Will try some of the others in the next playthroughs - really looking forward to romancing IB with my Cadash :D - she will need a chair to kiss him, I guess.

Generally, I like to mix the races (picture Cadash and IB having a little dwarf with horns  ). It didn't work in DAO and DA2 though, since I was very fixated with Zevran and Anders. Strangely, it's different with DAI - I probably will end up trying all of them - even Cullen, whom I did not like in DAO and DA2, but who is kind of interesting in DAI.

All my canon characters are female mages.

DAO: Alistair. I tried to make a character for Zevran once...and then whoops I was smooching Alistair. X)

DA2: Fenris. What can I say, I have a thing for moody elves. Which means, of course...

DAI: ...Solas. DAMMIT SOLAS.

Edit: And another thing. When I romanced Cullen, the Thedas Love Theme felt like the sweetest, most tender, most heart-warming song I'd ever heard. But when I romanced Solas, it felt like the most bitter sweet, the most anguished, the most heartbreaking song I'd ever heard. The song didn't change, but the story it told did. Wild.

Of course, it always sounds heartbreaking to me now.

DAO: Alistair. Did eventually do romances with all the LI options, but sometimes it was hard not to flirt with Alistair (he reminds me a fair bit of my husband, so he kinda ticks my boxes, so to speak).

DA2: Fenris, but I really enjoyed the Isabela romance. I did romance Fenris twice (once rivalmance, once friendmance), so I guess I'll say Fenris as far as personal canon.

DAI: Cullen. Romanced Blackwall and found the romance really boring (though I did like the character and thought him interestingly written, the romance was... meh). Never got far with a Solasmance, though I may eventually finish that. Cassandra was fun (my Inquisitor was, in my mind, calling her "Princess" in private, awww). Never had any interest at all in Sera or in Iron Bull. Still intend to eventually romance Dorian, but I'm sure Cullen will always be my canon romance.

Half of the time I don't even bother pursuing romances but if I were to have canon romances I suppose it would be Morrigan, Isabela, and Cassandra.

Almost without fail, throughout all the games I've ever played, the playthrough that I consider to be canon for any sequels is the first one. As such, this usually ends up being whoever my first character romanced, if anyone. The Dragon Age series is actually rather unusual in that, thus far, all of my first characters have romanced someone; it's not something that always ends up being the case. (Subsequent characters often enough haven't.)

Origins: Zevran. This was a male city elven rogue.

II: Fenris (friend path). This was a male warrior.

Inquisition: Josephine. This was a female Dalish warrior.

Aside from the fact that they all ended up being same-sex romances, I'm not seeing any sort of pattern. That's not too surprising, since my three characters were very different from each other (and would definitely not have made those same choices in each other's shoes).

DAO: F!warrior!Cousland and Alistair (ruling together)

DA2: male mage!hawke and friendmanced Anders (on the run together, flipping off in the Maker's general direction)

DAI: F!mage!Lavellan and Solas (haven't finished te game yet but I'm going for it because it seems like the best option lore-wise, not so much happiness-wise). For therapy I'll probably make my male mage Adaar romance Dorian, he seems like a sweetheart.

My first Warden was a female casteless dwarf and romanced Leliana, but I never felt any chemistry so I don't consider them canon. If she could, she would have romanced Shale. And my Hawkes would definitely bed the Arishok if they could. All Hawkes.

DAO- Zevran- Although I have found that if you use the feastday 'thoughtful gifts' and gain the approval of party members right away, you can romance Alister or Morrigan, break up with them, and romance Zevran afterward. I've tried to romance Leliana, but I find her too much work. All her talk about the chantry, Orlais and shoes really gets on my nerves, but someone with more patience than me could probably 'romance' 3 party members in one game.

DA2-I usually hold off on romancing until I run into Zevran, if your with any 'romantic' interest when you meet him you don't get a chance to take him up on the offer of the tying up, gagging and manhandling...except if you're with Isabella, then hey, ya know.

DAI- Cullen...had he have had that option in DAO and DA2 it would have been him there also. He won me over in DAO with his 'May the Maker turn his gaze on you, I hope your compassion hasn't doomed us all.' line. There was just the right amount of pissy petulance in his tone that you just knew he wasn't saying what he REALLY wanted to say, it was AWESOME!  :D

Origins: Leliana. I don't normally pursue romances in any game, but prior to playing the game I was told that it was very difficult to successfully romance Leliana, so naturally challenge accepted. Turns out it wasn't very difficult and I was lied to; either that, or my character was drip drop drippin' with charm 'cause he's a suave star.

DA2: No one. There was no challenge and all the choices were lackluster.

Inquisition: No one. Same as above. Granted, Dorian was cool, but it was best left as a bromance.

Origins: As much as I'd like it to be Alistair, I never play a Cousland, so it's invariably Leliana. I think I should just accept that she's my default. (<3)

DA2: Fenris, without a doubt. (Preferably with m!Hawke -- I'm just not as partial to f!Hawke/Fenris.)

Inquisition: Tentatively Cullen. All of my Inquisitors are so different and have such different tastes that it's difficult to pick just one.

Origins: Rogue Male!Aeducan, who romanced Zevran, has buried himself into my heart like a worm in a red, red apple...

He was my umpteenth character and he didn't even do everything "right", but nevertheless...

DA2: Well lets go colors, because I can't choose :D Purple Male Mage Hawke and Fenris, Blue Rogue Fem!Hawke and Merril, Red Warrior Fem!Hawke and Anders (This one w/ rivalmance, other two either way). I like Isabela more than Merril, but my first Hawke fell for her as soon she saw her so :D Purple!Fem!Hawke and Varric would totally be OTP, but it was not meant to be...

Inquisition: Iron Bull and Archer!Male!Lavellan. At least two of my fem!Inquisitors had a crush on Cassandra, but it was not meant to be either :D

I love all the romances, but my "canon" are:

Alistair x Female Human Noble Warrior (King Alistair!)

 Merrill x Male Sarcastic Rogue

Dorian x Male Human Noble Warrior

I'm not sure what they have in common...

It would be more accurate to say that all the women of the DA world romance me, consciously or not.

Dragon age origins : I romance Lelianna as a human male cousland. the idealistic and adorkable lelianna of the first DAO miss me (not that I hate her in DAI her personality change is totally understable but I still miss the younger leliana) and I hope that in the next dragon age, we could at least sees her reunion with the warden.

Dragon age 2 : My Male hawke romanced Merill, I maybe in the minority but I absolutely love her character, I cannot stay mad at her at how adorkable she is and I want to hug her every five seconds.

Dragon age Inquisition : My male qunari romance Josephine, I never thought I would love josephine that much because I am the kind of guy who hates the cliche romance but she is so charming. And I love the fact that with her golden dress she looks like belle from the beauty and the beast, that ressemblance is even bigger with my qunari inquisitor who is so large compare to her and his big horns. Unfortuanetely I cannot find much artwork of a male qunari wit her but that does not change the fact that it is my canon romance.

DA:O - Male Human Warrior - Morrigan
I always thought that the allure of an Apostate woman, self-proclaimed Witch of the Wilds and character of such strong motives and beliefs would mesh well with the otherwise sheltered life of the Human Noble. The attraction alone would of been enough for him to conjure up an idea of a romance found in the Knightly tales he learnt about as as child.

DA:II - Male Human Mage - Merrill
Magic and Magic, plus she is an Elf.. and affectionate. I didn't really think about this one.

DA:I - Male Human Warrior - Cassandra
Having come from an Andrastian family that held strong ties with the Templars, my Inquisitor was quick to trust Cassandra; a Seeker of Truth. Her passion and fiery demeanor alone was enough to entice him and set into motion the whirlwind romance that would see the two caring for one another like they never had before.

Imagine it being said with Varric's voice:

Well, we all know how the story goes: Fereldan boy meets Dalish girl with puppy eyes, and what must follow, follows

Dragon Age: Origins - Female Human Mage with Alistair.  Though, Male Dalish Warrior with Morrigan is a close second (I loved how his story came full-circle in the end with Witch Hunt).

Dragon Age 2 - Sarcastic FemHawke Mage with Isabela.  They make a cute couple!

Dragon Age: Inquisition - Female Dalish Mage with Solas

I always have two canon playthroughs in all games, even if the characters are, morality-wise, pretty much the same. With that out of the way, we have:

1st canon: Origins - Zevran (Male Rogue Mahariel )
Dragon Age II - Fenris (Male Mage Hawke)
Inquisition - Dorian (Male Mage Trevelyan)

2nd canon: Origins - Alistair (Female Warrior Cousland)
Dragon Age II - Anders (Male Hawke Rogue)
Inquisition - Cullen (Female Warrior Trevelyan)

I still rather lament the fact that Cullen isn't bi (there seems to be some good chemistry between him and male Inquisitors as well) but, well, there's always headcanon for that. XD
