Weird cause over here there is tons of male and female nudity in movies and I mean the whole thing without clever camera angels etc and in its  in everything from comedies to dramas.  Only last week I had to run in from the kitchen and shut of the tv because on the movie channel was showing something I don't think my sisters mother would like my sister to see. 

edit: to clarify it was a comedy but people got drunk in the movie and undressed-

Yeah nudity is okay if it's in movies.

 

Video games though... that's a big naughty NO NO.

 

Same with blood and gore, all good in movies but if it's in video games then it's just not acceptable. It teaches kids to be violent anti-social psychopaths... movies though, that's not an issue.

Exactly this. I've always though that nudity is less harming to a young mind than gore but this game is rated accordingly so I don't see the big deal.

Well the usual argument goes like this:

 

"Video-games are for kids."

 

But what they don't realise is that games have evolved.. it isn't the 80's/90's any more. The kids who took a liking to video games in the past have grown up and still play games. Besides, it's pretty obvious that video games are now predominantly targeted for mature audiences...

 

Just look at Nintendo and how they've gone down the tube, because a majority of their games are for kids.

 

On top of that, kids themselves prefer to play mature games... I've heard that many stories about kids chucking tantrums because their friends can play CoD but their parents won't let them.

 

But it's the same with movies. As a child I watched scary movies and saw some stuff that probably wasn't considered appropriate. Did that f*ck me up? Well yeah, but in a good way. I think seeing all of that sh*t has made me less uptight and able handle situations a lot of people wouldn't be capable of.

 

But yes, with certain groups of narrow minded people, video-games are for kids. But movies are for everyone.

 

It's all down to stereotypes, assumptions, etc.

 

What annoys me -- being Australian -- is in our country, some games get banned if they have content that they consider is too extreme.

 

Yet I can watch I Spit On Your Grave as many times as I like... rape scenes? Check. Torture/gore scenes? Check.

Yeah I agree to all points. I watched alot of scary movies as a kid to but some of the charm was that it was forbidden imo.
I feel sorry for you I've heard about Austalias weird bans against certain things in video games. Can't the goverment just highten the age requirement for the games in question and make it the law or something?

Well they put R ratings on games now but that doesn't stop the controversy.  And don't get me started on the Australian government... all I'm gonna say there is; how f*cking embarrassing!

 

My mind boggles... I could've sworn that they banned South Park: Stick of Truth yet I picked up a copy last week...... went back to the same store and two more copies were sitting there, so it couldn't have been an honest mistake.

 

My most memorable forbidden moment would have to be watching The Fly. I swear Corypheus is modelled after him.

Yeah I remeber the stick of truth pretty fun game I thought they banned that in Austrailia too? Weird. hahah yeah I see the resemblance.  The forbidden movie that stuck with me was "it"... hated clowns for a looong time.

Stick of Truth is a crack up.

 

Especially when you can go and take a dump in the toilet and use the "nugget" in combat later on. Comes in handy!

I haven't played much of it due to a DA:I addiction, but I will get into it a bit more once I'm over DA.

 

That's one movie I've yet to see.

 

I loved I Know What You Did Last Summer as a kid too... watched it over and over. But I had a thing for Jennifer Love Hewitt, and would watch any movie with her in it, no matter how horrid it was.

haha I wouldn't watch "it" now since it hasn't aged well imo. My ex forced me to watch it again as an adult as "therapy"  it actually helped alittle. I remeber I know what you did last summer it was pretty bad if I remeber correctly x) Also ghost whisperer really? Isn't that the serie that always end in a really really sappy way?

Oh yes, very bad movie. I suppose it's one of those "guilty pleasures".

 

I have tonnes of guilty pleasures, especially in the TV department. I watch Pretty Little Liars.  It's kinda like watching someone root a horse... you know it's wrong, but you just cannot look away.

 

Ghost Whisperer is even worse. I don't even enjoy it... if it happened to be on TV one night, I'd sit there and watch it for Love-Hewitt's rack. It was sappy as f*ck, lucky I'm not one of those "box of tissues" types of people.

Yeah I watched pretty little liars too it kind of weird since as you said Its really bad and I know I could and should be doing something more productive or entertaining...  Yeah I'm not one for the "box of tissues" kind of movies. I always make lots of stupid jokes when I get bored and when I watch those kind of things I get bored and thus I'm banned from the living room whenever something like that is on.

Pretty Little Liars is so wrong, it's delicious!!

 

I just like how pathetic and f*cked up, twists every five seconds... you think you have it all figured out then a can of worms is unleashed. Plus, the cliche'd female characters crack me up with some of the sh*t they say.

 

It's just filling time really, all of my favourite shows have finished. Dexter, Breaking Bad, True Blood... Game of Thrones next season won't be out for a couple of months or so.

 

I like anime too but haven't watched much of it lately.

Its like watching a train wreck in motion x)  Yeah dexter, breaking bad and true blood where awesome , though true blood got really crazy and weird at the end but I kept watching anyways. Big fan Game of thrones here. Also the borgias was also a really good show.

its more complex. nudity registers as a vulnrebilty in our minds. that man/woman is nude they have nothing to protect them.

play a game like.. im trying to think of one whith nude codes like skyrim. 

play a few hours nude you feel vulnrable do the same in massive armour you feel like a tank.

thats why the scantily clad character exists its abit more complex than w*nk matterial.

As a swedish gerbil I agree that there are alot of SWJs in the media and politics but reality is a different thing and that is good.
