Guys, I really like you. I just wanted to put it here. After the bazillions of weirdos out there, i really needed this. So much fun to read  :D  and it's not even a habit of mine to read full threads.

Behemoth, I always wondered if I ever encounter a person who understands this well: being a defensive aggressive. I can see you know the difference between innate malevolence and reaction. Being a mirror, to be precise. It's almost amazing how few can distinguish the two, trying to paint a world of black and white.

And about the 'kids watching adult stuff' topic: we're in the same shoes in that. I also watched them occasionally, even as a kid, I was rarely entertained by kid's stuff. When something complex emerged, be it a movie or a more mature anime with scary antagonists and a serious storyline, I didn't fully understand it of course, but it had my full attention and created a very special mood, unlike of those bright and colorful but meaningless cartoons. If something damages the brain, than that's the nothingness adults try to protect their children with. So far I concluded the same thing: it doesn't damage the personality, the identity. Sh*tty parenting does, much more often.
As you said, it makes up one's mind to be able to deal with the real world out there. There's nothing wrong with it. Children who are being protected even from the mildest breeze will be weak minded in most cases. And it is shown - it's astonishing how much whining and crying is going on pretty much about every little insignificant thing. Like in this thread before - you just have to type 'religion' in a sentence, without any malevolence, and it's suddenly AAAHHHH U R BASHING OTHERS' FAITH CLOSE THE WHOLE FORUM!

Serious talk off.
Now I also volunteer to be a high dragon, if permitted.

I agree that being exposed to nudity doesn't screw kids up mentally.  I mean, I played Leisure Suit Larry when I was 6-7 and I've been playing GTA for pretty much ever since Kindergarten.  Am I messed up? ....... well, yeah, but I'm the fun kind of messed up.  I'm the kind of messed up where I have a twisted sense of humor.

The thing is, my parents have different views about nudity, whether in video games, movies, or just online.  My dad's very open about it and honestly couldn't care less if he saw that I was playing/watching something with nudity in it.  My mom, on the other hand, is on the prudish side, yet she doesn't care about me seeing violence at all.  Obviously, I took after my dad, but it seems like my sister took after my mom somewhat, though she's 13 and was kind of sheltered compared to me.  Could that be a gender-line thing?  Maybe, idk.  * shrugs *

I actually prefer M-rated games because they are a lot better in terms of plot, gameplay, graphics, etc., and my game collection proves that.  Out of all my games, only 2-3 of them are rated E, while the rest are rated M or T, more-so the former.

As for reacting to being offended, I'm more on the confrontational side.  If you say something offensive to me, I will confront you about it instead of whining about it to someone who likely doesn't give a sh*t.  Is that because I played violent games growing up?  Hell no.  It's specifically because I had to deal with that type of sh*t from 1st grade all the way through the first half of my freshman year in high school, and that was despite moving from school to school to school the entire time (money issues).  Eventually, I snapped and beat the sh*t out of one of the kids who kept bullying me, which resulted in everyone backing off.  As a result, I know that whining and moaning about your problems won't change anything.  You have to take matters into your own hands for things to change, for better or worse.

This reminds me of the "Online Bullying" thread in the Lobby section, tbh.

Anyway, back to being goofy.   :P

She is reffereing more to the SJW crowd who are more viscious little trolls who try to make everyone feel bad.

Social Justice Warrior reporting for duty, by the way.  Sorry, been working the last few days.  My thread went and grew a mind of it's own while I was away.  Not quite sure how it went from me harping on the conservative nitwits who censor gay male relationships while leaving lesbian female ones untouched because reasons to railing against the sjw crowd (like me) who are clearly out to make everyone feel bad.  Huh.  I don't remember being so uninvolved in my own conversations.

tbf, it's kind of a double-edged sword.  You have to admit, people flip out over the stupidest and most insignificant stuff, trying to blow it way out of proportion.  It's true for everyone, regardless of their reasoning behind it or whatever their 'cause' is.

Personally, I ignore the whole SJW BS since all it does is cause more issues (just look at the SJW thread in the Lobby).  I agree that there should at least be more tolerance, but trying to make it into a huge crusade just makes the whole issue into something it's not.

Is a simple reason why the lesbian scene gets less censorship & hate, lesbianism isn't treated as seriously as male homosexuality, especially in most media where 2 women together sexually is mostly for male benefit & the recent obsession with the "lesbian sleeps with a guy & likes it" trope makes it worse. Is no wonder so many guys think they can "fix" a gay woman with their d*ck

See, that's the thing.  I think the Feminist Frequency videos are interesting, I like having diversity in games, and I support or don't support developers with my wallet, and suddenly I'm crusading and simultaneously destroying games?  I just don't understand it.  It's truly bizarre.

Like I said: people blow things out of proportion for stupid reasons.  Kind of like how people say that gay marriage will destroy society.  It doesn't make sense, but people honestly believe that BS.

Hell yes. Mature games and movies are usually mature in terms of storyline too. I'm not saying every good game/movie has to contain exploding heads and nudity shots (although I prefer it, in a not overused way) but wannabe-serious movies made family friendly are annoying the crap out of me, and somehow it always turns out idiotic and cheesy repetative. Sad, because the potential is great in most of them.

You actually beat a bully? :D Good. You can try and ask them politely, but they have a brain capacity of an australopithecus, they can only understand the way of the punch in the face.

Annnnd here is the OP. Poor guy...yes this trade gone wild, but in a good way, in my opinion. And I don't recall anyone being against you...or did I miss something?

I'm sorry to offend, if I did so, Captain Obvious.

And in that particular post I wasn't talking about the "freedom fighters" you mentioned there. I am aware that they went about their fight, and probably dealt with a lot of BS to get where they did. They deserve respect.

Unlike the "social justice warriors" and I'm not saying everyone is like this -- but many people are, no denying this -- who taint the hard-won fought of those freedom fighters mentioned by complaining, crying, moaning, expecting acceptance and peace when the reality is -- it ain't gonna happen. Yeah, I'm a cynic through and through and I have my reasons.

I know firsthand what it's like to be a "victim". First off, I'm a lesbian -- to keep the story short, a few years back I went through a crazy episode. I had nowhere to turn so I went against the grain of my very own beliefs and went and admitted myself to a hospital, hoping to seek help.

I was treated with the utmost respect and everyone (nurses, doctors, etc) were nice as pie -- until my girlfriend, now ex -- showed up, and hugged me for support. A nurse witnessed this, treated me like absolute sh*t afterwards (and you can't tell me it's simply a coincidence either) went away, came back and basically told me I was getting kicked out of the hospital the next day because "it isn't a hotel".

Nah, couldn't refer me to an actual mental ward or nothing. Not even that. Nah, just give me some busted arse councillor who, by the way, was judgmental as f*ck and irritated the sh*t out of me, making my mental situation worse.

So yeah, I chucked a hissy f*t, threw things around the hospital room... and left. I'm not telling this story for sympathy, btw. It's crucial that you know this... I don't even like discussing the past, I'm just trying to make a point.

Second to this; my childhood. I have always been tomboyish, and as a kid convinced I was a boy in a girl's body. I copped so much sh*t for this it isn't funny.

I eventually grew out of it and accepted that I'm a female -- but that didn't have to change who I was as a person. I could maintain my tomboyish personality while being a female, all good.

I learnt, through experience, that sitting around, moping and crying that people can't accept me doesn't help you one bit, individually. So basically I swallowed a cup of cement, hardened right up -- but learnt not to go too far that way, to maintain a love, sensitivity and respect for those who respect me. I'm happy with a simple one fingered salute and a f*ck you for bigots, arseholes and narrow minded tools -- I will not expect them to be all "peace maaaaaan", because that's just illogical.

It's like flogging a dead horse.

And Firewing.

You are absolutely right about bad parenting.

Unfortunately, there is too much of that these days. I witness this in my job.... mothers who aren't fit to be parents. Though it's really none of my business, I observe that they are lazy, just wanna sit on their phones and socialise on FB, don't clean up after themselves, and in some really horrid cases, are hooked on either black market or prescription drugs/alcohol to make them even more unfit.

My ex had a so-called "friend" like this, who didn't even have the mind to wash out the friggin' baby bottle. Then complain when the baby gets sick...

Now, fast-forward ten years into the future of this kid's life and consider the consequences.. it isn't the movie they saw, or the video game they played, it's the fact that the parents can't even look after themselves let alone a kid. Kid minds cannot raise kids effectively.

That sounds very sad I don't get why you get a kid and then ignore it. There should be some kind of parenting drivers licence tbh.

Yep, it's a common occurrence. Particularly in Australia.

The equivalent to America's famed "trailer trash".

Well, I could go one up on that but I'm gonna come across sounding like a nutjob tyrant Neo-Nazi. But here it goes anyway...

Mothers (and fathers) who want children, have to study, pass a test, and obtain a licence to be a parent. If you fail: mandatory sterilisation.

Realistically though, they should just get some common sense and learn some responsibility. Much more simpler, yeah?

I agree with this. The sickest part is that the most unfit of parents seems to get the most children atleast where I'm from. Its like "yeah we f*cked up two kids lets get three more!!"

Ha!

Truer words have never been spoken. (Yep, stole Cassandra's line there.)

As the movie Idiocracy outlines, all the stupid, irresponsible people keep breeding like jackrabbits, while the intelligent, responsible types hold off for reasons such as financial management, careers, stability, etc.

Obviously, there are other reasons why unfit mothers have kids... such as rape cases. I want to just mention that there, because the previous post I made will most probably result in a lot of anger. So right now I'm pointing out that not all circumstances are the same...

It saddens me because I am familiar with a lot of decent people who want to have kids, would make outstanding parents but simply cannot have them for certain reasons... then you have all of these ungrateful sh*ts popping them out like no tomorrow and not giving two squirts (pun not intended but still great, I think ;)).

This is sad and all, but I really think Australia in particular needs to take a leaf out of China's book with population control. Otherwise we really are going to live in a "Fallout" style environment, in the future.

Is it that bad over there? But yeah rape cases are horrible knew a woman who had been raped and she also got pregnant. Thank god for the liberal stance on abortion in this country has because I think she was considering killing herself if she wouldn't be allowed to remove it.
Yeah I myself have no desire for kids right anyhow I'm working with something that makes me unable to guarantee that I'll come home and I wouldn't want that for a child.

Edit: Also I've heard that adoption ques here are really bad.

I was just pre-empting, Su Lu Pi. ;) I know it's wrong to make assumptions, but more often than not I'm always nailing it.

Oh man, it is really bad. Especially with the wonderful economy going to the sh*thouse, job to people ratio is pretty spaced out.

Abortion... new topic. I get really annoyed when certain people (won't mention R word now) say that it's wrong, immoral. Well, do they consider that it's "wrong and immoral" to grow up with a mother who isn't capable of parenting, among other problems?

I think it eases the suffering, myself.

I don't plan on having kids either. I'm not maternal... don't get me wrong, I like kids. They make you smile, but I just don't see myself as a mother.

Exactly this, she talked alot with me about that and she thought that she wouldn't be able to look at the kid if she even saw a smidge of him in it and that would be really bad for the kid. Also women tend to find other unsafer ways to make abortions when its illegal since women who go though with it are often dead set on removing it anyhow its only a matter of saftey for the woman imo.
