I am having problems importing my char from the first game, can someone help me out with this? Thanks.

Me neither, I tried everything. I am on the same console with the same gamertag and hard drive. I am able to start a new playthrough with my Shepard in Mass Effect 1 who is level 50 but when I go to Mass Effect 2, the save file is greyed out, not sure why.



I did try to replay the ending from Mass Effect 1 again to see if it works, that didn't help either.

My ME! charecter didnt show up at all.

I am also having this problem. I have the steam version of ME1 and when I go to import my character the screen doesn't even show careers to import.

In response to ProjectIceFire, you need to open the launcher and run the configure utility, under the saved games menu there's a "Copy Mass Effect 1 saved games" option. Use that and select your ME1 save folder (Defaults to my Documents/Bioware/Mass Effect).

The Steam version of the game doesn't seem to do this automatically so you just need to do it manually, then you should be able to import.

I have the same Steam problem. Has anyone been able to figure out how to import ME 1 characters to ME 2 over a steam version of the game?

Mine just worked, I had to use the D-pad to scroll through the saves, I was using the stick instead, WOW.

I bought ME1 off of steam, but not on ME2, however i did place my save game file into the folder manually and it did work, your Mass Effect 1&2 save file directories should be in the same place regardless of whether you installed it through steam or not, for I have ME1 through steam and ME2 not through steam and the folders are right next to each other in the My Documents\\Bioware directory. so just copy the save file from the save folder in your ME1 directory and place it into My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\save\\ME1\\ (if the folder ME1 doesn't exist yet just create it.)
