Missing cutscenes when in Triple Head resolution (5040x1050)

Hi there. I pre-ordered this game and installed it yesterday via Steam.  The game is very enjoyable so far.  I do however have one concern/issue that I hope should be straightforward for BioWare to fix (I don't really know how much time/resources this would require to look at, but I don't think it should be too much work).

The problem is that when I run the game in a triple head resolution (3 monitor), the resolution in my case being 5040 by 1050, the game works fine, but the in-game cutscenes do not appear.  By in-game cutscenes, I mean the parts where you're talking to an character / NPC inside the game and you're in the event / talking camera rather than the actual game itself.  When this happens (talking to an NPC or such), the graphics are completely blanked out.  My 3 monitors go black and there's nothing displayed on my monitors. I can however tell that the game is still running because I can hear sound and I can press the keys 1,2,3,4 and such to go through the conversation with the NPC.  When the cutscene/NPC scene is done and the game goes back to "regular" mode, everything works fine again and the game displays correctly on my 3 monitors with the super wide resolution (and looks great and RUNS great too).

So please BioWare, please fix this in an upcoming patch.  The game looks BEAUTIFUL and runs beatifully on my computer at this super wide resolution.  With ATI's EyeFinity launching recently (about a month ago), there are other users that are starting to take notice of triple head resolutions such as 5040x1050 and 5760x1200 and there's a few other people that ran into this issue over on another forum (Widescreen gaming forum).

I hope I'm not asking too much here, there are other people out there that would like to play this in triple head and I think this should be an easy task for BioWare to fix.  The game looks and runs well in triple head, it works natively (can just select resolution in-game, I don't to hack any config or INI files or such), just this blemish that prevents me from playing the game properly in this wide resolution at the moment.

I run at 5040x1050 on an Eyefinity setup and am having the exact same issue. Hopefully there will be a fix soon, the game would be so much better with some extra-wide goodness.

When I run at 3150x1680 (portrait), the cutscenes show but all "replies" are cutoff except for "1". This happens with and without "Disable Aspect-Ratio Correction" enabled in the launcher options.

Yep, running 3840x1024 and having the same problem.. the game is impossible to play when you get a black screen when trying to talk to an NPC.

Why let us pick these resolutions if they block us from actually playing the game?

Yep, I'm in the same boat running it at 3840x1024. It's fun at 1280x1024, but running it over all 3 screens would be lovely.

Wow. Great news! I am surprised. I thought we would get another ME1 patch drama. I am starting to get confidence in the company again. :)

Same problem on dual monitor. 3360 X 1050 leaves a narrow horizontal window without the conversation options visible. Reducing to 1024 X 768 shows entire cutscene in a much smaller window. Hoping for a fix soon.

The 1.01 patch is out: http://social.biowar...ame_patches.php and does address issues with "extremely" wide-screen resolutions.

Thank you for this patch. It does the trick for dialog and cutscenes, but....

...you can't move the hotbar to the center monitor in-game w/the hotkeys(1-9). Dunno if there's a way to fix this another way, but it's really annoying having the hotbar on the far left monitor. Sure, you can drag it over, but then you lose the hotkeys(eg, 1-9) and are limited to clicking on spells only.

Huh, we haven't seen that yet... I'll file a bug and we'll add it to the list of things to investigate.

I just wanted to say after applying the patch, the game would not start when pressing 'Play' from the launcher. I have the Direct2Drive version if that means anything. Bit boggled as the Direct2Drive page goes out of the way to say the patches are universal, which doesn't seem to be the case.

Had to uninstall and re-install the game (really wish there had been a repair option).

Just a heads up.

Thank you so much, the game is fully playable now and it looks great and plays great.

If you could fix the hotbar to be on the middle screen in a future patch rather than the left screen, that would be great too, but I won't really complain since the game is fully playable right now in triple display so I'm fine with it.

Thank you a lot BioWare!!:D:D

Another thing too, the hud goes to the far right and left screens. In fallout3 there was an ini file you could modify and put them on the center screen so hud-wise it would be setup just like a single screen and the side monitors were for peripherial vision only. I looked in the dragon age files and didn't find anything like that, just graphics settings and such. I took some screens to show the hud on the far screens as well as showing you what the hotbar does when you drag it over(just an fyi: screenshots are slightly compressed):

Just to let you know, on widescreengamingforums everyone is extremely pleased with how fast the ultra-widescreen mode was fixed and we really appreciate your hard work.

Wow that was awesome. Less than a week for a patch. I love you guys

If you are going to fix the hotbar, would it be too much trouble to let us use the entire hotbar from the keyboard? Like with SHIFT+0-9 or CTRL+SHIFT-0-9 or CTRL+SHIFT+0-9 we can easily go up to 40 items instead of just 10 !

I wanted to mention that the game is still not playable with triple display. Objects disappear on the screen when moving around in-game. Like let's say you're in the forest, things like trees and grass will disappear when getting close to them. I know it's a problem with using 3 monitors (the super wide resolution) because when I play on the game on 1 monitor, this problem does not happen at all.

Is there any official word on the UI for triple setups?

It's probably going to take some time before companies make triple screen gaming a higher priority as it's likely the lowest total percentage of their playerbase.  Bioware is off to a good start, but I wouldn't expect to see patches come out for a bit to fix some of the remaining problems.
If you're playing on triple screens right now, you're one of the few doing so, and shall likely remain so for quite some time to come.  Image IPB

I'd rather them fix the disappearing objects issue before the UI. That prevents me from wanting to play.
