That wasn't a quest, it was an encounter. You didn't get XP for it either, if I remember correctly...

It shouldn't have been Open World here. it is a joke. Then again it is Open levelled and still this has created a ton of problems. Where quest are bugging.
Item appear after linear completion, and quest bug. i cannot even complete my 2nd attempted game now. First had questline bug Darkspawn Servis did not appear. Current attempt 90 hours in and my inquistors instructors have disappeared and i have crafted all path mats. HIGH DRAGONS quest complete, no achievment.
Still after doing all the zones there quests within, I am missing mini quest map zones, I haven't found 30 potions the ones I have are all upgraded fully and I cannot find the castle ascessory shop, which hasn't open yet.
The game should have locked zones until they where fully available. If this is the result of open world fetch the bone then retch on error.
What open world games hasn't have bugs.

Fallout 3...dammit...
um...New Ve...no...
SKYRI...
I give up
I know, but to act like it's non-existant in Inquisition just makes people sound stubborn. Like "Kevin Bacon was not in Footloose"
Its not utterly non-existant. But given what the devs heavily implied in the promo videos, they are severely lacking. What happened to the quest where you had to defend Crestwood, for instance? They made a big deal about choices you had to make in that one, and the ramifications. Or how you could modify the keeps you captured to make them serve a specific purpose? They were talking about that stuff 2 weeks before release. Not strange that people expect more than just fetch 5 elfroots and bring them to NPC 005 for a Thank You.
In DAO every non-board quests allows you to define your personality, _besides_ the convos. DAO has more content, from a roleplaying point of view.
Even SWTOR, an average game, had interesting narrative quests for each area.
Are there too many, or are people approaching the game incorrectly? I get the feeling it's the latter and people are trying to play this game like previous Bioware games; i.e., "DO ALL THE THINGS".
Here's what I've learned in my playthru: Side quest completion results in gaining Power. Power is the currency you use to unlock regions and to advance the story. Being that I like doing everything, I ended up with a surplus of about 300+ power by the time I ended the game. That's 300+ Power's worth of side quests that were completely optional and weren't necessary to finish the game.
So is Bioware to blame for the dissatisfaction or is our own inability to adapt to a different structure combined with gamer OCD to blame?
Thoughts?
Its called laziness. Its also funny because all of the games had them but some people would prefer the ridiculous DA2 fetch quests because they aren't as difficult.
The fact is people want things easily handed to them. BioWare creates a great game that gives you your money's worth and people will still look to whine.
And I've said this before...there was far more rage for DA2 than there is for this game. They may change the next game a bit but I don't think people should expect a return to DA2's fetch quests or crafting for that matter.
WAIT! I know!
Red Dead Re...shite! Wrong again!

Doesn't show up under "Done Quests" when you do it.

Not one person on these boards have requested, or said they missed, the DA2 fetch quests...I think you should read what people are actually posting.
Well, you can still choose to ignore the giant rift in crestwoods lake, thus dooming the town.
It doesn't doom the town. It just remains as it is for the remainder of the game.

...Please not da2's craft system. I like dai craft system too much.
I already made points about area related narratives in the graves and emprise. both are very interesting.
And there's Crewstood main quest too.
However it's all average if compared to SWTOR stuff, where area related narratives are far more interesting. And I'm talking of SWTOR which was less than average at launch.
I tried to collect the shards, and then I realized how lame it was and I gave up.
The worst sidequest in DA ever.

Having been a visitor on here since leading up to the launch of Mass Effect 3, I'm convinced that no matter what Bioware does for their next game to "right the wrongs" that there will be a very vocal group that will find a reason to take a dump on it.
Considering the broken and unfinished crap that was shoveled out in 2014 (Destiny, AC: Unity, Drive Club, Halo MCC's MP, etc), Bioware hit it out of the park with DA:I LOL!

i would not call it average. a quest line that ask the quest what too much to do in a blight is not bad at all.
It doesn't doom the town. It just remains as it is for the remainder of the game.
how do you know that?
Because you can go there later on, and it is in the same state...I bet you could have figured that out for yourself.
Are you sure? It's optional for a reason.
Yup. Very sure.

I liked opening up the tombs and getting the buffs, though. Looking for them was strangely soothing. Hey, it's better than looking for satellites and metal ore on palette swapped alien landscapes. LOL
But the point is to not be able to complete an unplayable game (because it cannot be completed). A game that cannot decide what the frack it wants to be is the error here. It should have been more linear if the direct result is error.
Nothing in this game was adequately finished. We all like committing 100 hours to a game that cannot be completed after the second restart.

I don't have a playthough where i didn't do it.
