Seriously, Bioware or EA or whoever really need to check there products before they release them.
My problem is basically the same but it doesnt generate an error it just hangs there forever
tried unzipping the english thing to the install directory but nothing.
Mass Effect 2 won't start when I hit 'Play'

I placed disk 1 in my primary DVD drive and placed disk 2 in my secondary DVD drive then reinstalled ME2 right over my original install. Game now works perfectly. Thanks for all the ideas guys.
Had the same problem but now its working.
Put both CD's in drive, checked the microsoft updates and installed game again and now it works.

had the same problem. tried everything over the course of this week. finally got it working by re-installing the game with each dvd in its own drive. hope this works for others.

Hey! I got the same problem... I tried several times pressing "play" button, but nothing worked. I desided to download mass effect 1 on ea downloader and install it.. After installing mass effect 1, mass effect 2 worked... !! So try that ppl!! ;D
