Eh...there were smart "straight male gamer" threads? The ones who didn't started with "Why girls have more romance option?" or "Why is there so much gay stuff in this game?"? There were those who actually didn't whine that girls in DA:I didn't looked like hentai characters like they wanted? There were ones that didn't act as little butthurt babies? Really? Seriously?

Wow, you really checked off all the boxes with this one.

Bonus points for the hilarious strawman and use the of phrase "butthurt."

You definitely could have used a bit more self-righteous indignation, though, so I think I can only give you a 9/10.  Still very impressive.

So don't click on that option

Really? I had drinks last night with Bull and his crew for the first time and the first thing they do is tease Krem about his name. After the initial sit down you're locked in the convo, then the option pops up to ask him why he lives as a man...WTF...I thought he was a man. It felt forced and out of place. I mean seriously I thought he was a dude with a high voice. What was even the point?

It still shocks me that anyone thought that Krem's VA was a man.

Yes, really.

I had drinks last night with Bull and his crew for the first time and the first thing they do is tease Krem about his name. After the initial sit down you're locked in the convo,

... which takes place only after you've had a number of conversations with Bull and got his approval high enough. In other words, it takes about as much time as it does for you to gain the confidence of any other NPC.

Furthermore, if you don't go for drinks but instead just keep talking to Krem, he never brings the subject up. He is quite happy to remain in his corner of the tavern and let you continue thinking he's just a dude with a high voice.

then the option pops up to ask him why he lives as a man...

You know, maybe I should turn that into a gif.

If something is Too Much Information for your inquisitor's sensitive brain, then you should not ask for Too Much Information.

WTF...I thought he was a man.

The game is giving you the opportunity to learn that your initial assumptions were not entirely correct. Whether you wish to take advantage of that opportunity is up to you.

What is the point of any activity when we're pretending to be elves?

Er, he is a dude with a high voice... (but let's not get into all that here)

All story delivery is forced in, and you choose where to take the dialogue. That's what story is.

Sera's cookies. Blackwall's past. Solas' elfyness, Cassandra's reading taste. Cullen's addiction. Krem's place in the Chargers.

All these characters' stories - is the point.

I'm blaming 'development blindness' of sorts; during my initial encounters with Krem my only thoughts were genuinely "who thought it'd be good idea to give this guy a teenager VA" because the VA department simply dropping a ball for some reason is that much more common.

Oddly enough it became far less jarring in Skyhold. I don't know if I just got used to it or the delivery has changed, or both.

edit: (yes I know who's voiced Krem; I didn't recognize her at all :s

Once you play enough JRPG, it kinda has that effect on people.

Disregard this post.  I didn't say anything regarding Krem or anything revolver sex and/or gender.  I am getting too old for internet arguments.

Krem was born with an XX chromosome.  That would be a female.

XX could be male, just for your information.

Having the chromosome alone don't determine the gender. It was a testis determining factor that allows for either the development of the mullerian or fallopian tube. Also, there are cases where people were born as female but grow into male as they grow up due to the defect in 5 alpha reductase that can't convert testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. It's not as simple as having the chromosome. The more you know.

Okay, that doesn't count, that's a chromosomal disorder for pete's sake.

Hmm.....it seems I am outmatched in this battle of science.  Your biological jargon vastly decimates my jargon because I have no idea what you just said.  Fine, fine you win.

So? The topic was whether it can exist, not if it's regular occurrence (should be pretty obvious from a start it's not)

I think the big takeaway from that exchange is that biological sex, similar to gender and sexual orientation, is not as simple as some people make it.

I seriously thought Krem was just a young guy with a high pitched voice, and to find out he's voiced by Jennifer Hale...wow.

Obviously one's ear varies, but to me the voice just sounded nothing like a man's voice. I don't know how to describe it. It's not the pitch so much as it is the tone. It's kind of line the reverse of Dr. Girlfriend from Venture Bro's for me.

I was just pleasant surprised when I learned that Krem was meant to be a man rather than just a woman passing as one.

I guess the point is that there's a natural definition of gender even when nature disagrees.

In the 'Females Everywhere?!' thread I actually made a count of all the lesbian and bisexual women in the series - by my calculations, there are fourteen, and that includes the dead appostate Ritts was passing time with. Meanwhile, I count eleven gay or bisexual men, including Dude On Balcony At Fancy Party #1 and his boyfriend Dude On Balcony At Fancy Party #2. It's possible that I missed a couple, but out of hundreds of characters with speaking parts across three games, it doesn't really seem like a lot to me.

We don't know who is gay, bi, etc outside of the main characters and some obvious NPCs like Wade (love him).  If you're a gay male you have the Bull and Dorian to date.  If you're a straight male you have Cassandra and Josephine.

That feels like one for one to me.

I don't walk around skyhold counting who looks like they're gay or bi.  I can't even tell with Orlesians what sex anyone is.

Why are people offended if you point out that Bioware caters to an audience no one else caters to?  Is that wrong?  Is it some huge giant secret?  Why shouldn't they?

If I were into wedding planning right now I'd go into the gay market and not feel bad about it.

Hello again
First I'd like to share this link showing India video game industry being worth INR $180 billion by 2018
http://www.marketres...t/view/5681/76/

Second I'd like to say that while biologically a trans may be a specific sexual definition there is also a physiological definition that only they themselves may know. While I feel some people have a serious mental disorder I also feel others may truly believe they are of a different sexual persuasion.
The REAL question is; With all the advances in plastic surgery and gender reassignment surgery, at what point does it make me gay for doing it? I mean even if it was a biological female I'd still probably try to hit it from behind anyways :P
