They won't lose your future business. You will buy one of their next games again, because you love their games.

Seriously, the amount of people I've seen on here that would NEVER buy a Bioware product again after ME3 that I see posting in the DA:I sections playing the game is just astonishing.

My apologies, I misread.

I know, alot of people say it, I know that I also don't have to prove it, believe that I'll not buy another Bioware product or not that isn't my mission with this thread. I for one loved DA2 and ME3(pre-edit). I've spent more time replaying those 2 games than I have with Origins, Inquisition and the first two ME combined. I'm not leaving because of the quality of the product, but because of the quality of the Customer Service.

This sentence is an absolute internet unicorn. If more people would actually say this, imagine how different things might be.

Those kinda threads were usually closed cos they started or turned into "im a straight male gamer & i don't like chicks & gays having the same amount of options as me, stop pandering to them & pander to real gamers like me!!!" hate threads so is little surprise when it started arguments that locked them

I have noticed exactly what you are talking about.  I knew moderation was going to be a problem on this forum the minute I came back and noticed the only mods were BioWareMod01 and BioWareMod02.  I've never seen anonymous moderators work out on any forum before; it's just too easy for these biases to build up and there's no accountability.

Yes those type of threads are the ones that need closed, not talking about those threads. I'm talking about the ones that say something like "Cassandra isn't physically appealing to me." or "Did we really need a quest about Dorian's father hating him?"

Those type of threads get the "Your dumb Cass is hot." and "Oh your shoving your straight agenda down our throats." posts and instead of those posts getting removed the entire thread gets locked. Some threads didn't even make it to post #10 before being locked.

Whereas I could go into the current Pro-Gay request thread and post something like "Stop shoving your gay stuff down my throat hurr hurr" and my post would be removed but the thread wouldn't be locked.

It is forum bias.

Thread should've been locked the instant it was made. It reeks.

If these threads start with premises like the ones you describe, are you truly surprised they get locked entirely?

There's nothing constructive at this point about expressing personal dislike for appearance of a character, or for existence of gay-oriented content. So yes, the moderators close these threads because all you gotta get in these is people getting upset and yelling at one another.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the moderators were like this about such threads by now:

Not always.

I stumbled upon posts which eloquently and courteously referred to how inept Bioware is at presenting homosexuality, bisexuality and so forth. In such instances, there is nothing offensive towards a certain community. Yet, the topics get closed.

Before you reply, I know. For one eloquent post, there are 15 stupid ones.

But that is exactly the point. I(and others) cannot discuss what they want because people will come in, flame and derail the topic. But someone can make a thread that requests there be a certain type of Gay LI/quest that looks and behaves a certain way and all the flame and derail posts get removed instead of threads being locked like the "other" camp threads.

Someone back in November created a thread that outlined and detailed what they wanted for a "Straight" love interest and it was well thought out, but outlined that Cass had a Manish Jawline, Josie was too "Disney" for their tastes. Their thread immediately got 11 replies of "Drink" gifs, "Your dumb Cass is hot, Josie is hot" and the thread was locked and hidden. 5 hours later someone posted the same kind of response in a thread outlining what someone wanted from a Gay LI. that post was removed, the thread stayed open(still currently open) and is proceeding to beyond 100+ pages(or rather was, I can't seem to find it now I may be looking in the wrong place).

*Edit* Hit post by accident: What is wrong with wanting the same kind of consideration in terms of Forum use? But it is also not just the Forum bias that has me upset.

It's the fact that Bioware is also not communicating where they are at in terms of fixing the numerous issues people are experiencing in their games, I.E: PC community concerns thread and Old Gen problems thread. That shows me they don't care for me and others as customers so why should they get my business in the future? That is the second point of my original post.

The 'Gay Knigh in Shining Armor' is a really well thought out topic about the bad archetypes given to homosexuals in games.

The 'I want this kind of straight LI" topic was just a rant on 'omg I don't like these chicks!!' [followed up by ' omg there is so much stuff for the gays!!.

They aren't remotely the same, the first talks about a real problem, the second is just.. I don't have a word for it, besides pathetic.

I don't understand these threads. You like the games but because of some forum moderation and/or community issues you are just uninstalling the complete library? Alrighty then.

How is "I want a Knight in Shining Armor, someone who like Alistar or Cullen in terms of looks and personality and devotion to protecting my character." is any different than "I want a love interest who is both strong and beautiful with a little bit of insecurity like Leliana or Liara"?

I'm not talking about the threads that are "OMG I totes hate my options".

I'm going to stop driving because I have two friends that were speeding and only one of them got a ticket.

Sorry.  I know that wasn't helpful in the slightest....but it was boiling up from the inside and I just had to let it out (via my fingers to keyboard).  Why can't you play Bioware games again? Because the Moderators on these forums suck?  I agree with you, they do, but so what.  I'm not playing DA:I because of the lousy (PC) controls and numerous bugs, but I'm still here, blogging and accruing warning points.  They are unrelated things/actions.  Throwing the proverbial baby out with the bathwater may work for you, but it still doesn't make total sense to me.  I wish that I was in your shoes and actually enjoyed the (latest) dreck that Bioware/EA has put out.  If you do, hold onto that...and savor those (gaming) moments.  Just leave the forums if you so choose.  Anyway, good luck to whatever you do.  Sheeesh, I really need to bone up on my troll skills...I'm getting soft in my old age...

Don't twist what these topics were about. The Knight in Shining Armor is about the portrayal of gay people in general, which even though they are represented, is still on the negative side of things. (seriously, just read the opening post)

The other one was just a blatant 'I don't like these chicks and you need to make a romance specifically for me. Oh and, there's a tonne of romances for the LGBT!'

They are far from the same.

There is a lot of stuff for gay people in this game.  Pointing that out is not pathetic.  If I were Bioware and read these forums (which they do) I'd understand that I need to put in a lot of gay content and if I had to make a call between giving more to a straight gamer versus gay gamer I'd give it to the gay gamer since they are paying for the lights at EA right now.

This is a business.  Businesses like to make money.  In order to do that they need to understand their customers and where that money comes from.

There is not a thing wrong for a company to "cater" to gays or straights.  It's just business.  Let's all say it together.  It's a business and a business wants to make money.  There is nothing wrong with making money or marketing to a particular customer segment.

Does MAC cosmetics need to make women happy or men?  Sure some men buy cosmetics, but more women do.  They'd be fool to spend too much money or time on the guys out there.  It should be proportional to their business model.

That's why the world of Dragon Age is very pro-female and pro-gay.  Andraste (Jesus) is a woman, the chantry is run by women, we women can be the hero of __________________, why Wade's Emporium existed, etc.

That's not to say that straight guys won't find something in this series but to quote from the IT Crowd, "It's not for you, Jen."

Does it have to make sense?  Harness your zen.  Bioware is not your child, this forum isn't run by your mother, and this poster isn't you.  If she wants to pull the game out of her console and wipe her butt with it, that's okay.

It's okay with Bioware, too, because she bought it already.

What will most likely happen is that she'll remember that its a good game, miss Cullen and Varic and come back to it later.  The bears spawning were distressing and I wanted to throw the console but I'm on here today looking up how to get rid of rocks.

These things happen.

I guess I could always quote someone else. But can you really take anyone on the internet seriously? By internet rules I will continue to play Bioware games, my opinion is valid unless of course it is any kind of opinion that doesn't reflect the general masses.

Zobert - Does it have to make sense?  No, I suppose not, but I like for things to make sense.  I'm funny like that.  And the joke is on you.  My mother does run these forums (badly), and I just did legally adopt Bioware.  Now I just have to work on that third thing...So there.  Damn, it feels great to always be (at least partially) right..
