I like how this thread is slowly becoming a proof of it's own thesis.

Zobert - Does it have to make sense?  No, I suppose not, but I like for things to make sense.  I'm funny like that.  And the joke is on you.  My mother does run these forums (badly), and I just did legally adopt Bioware.  Now I just have to work on that third thing...So there.  Damn, it feels great to always be (at least partially) right..

Can you send Bioware to its room until it fixes the respawn issue with the bears?

There is a lot of stuff for gay people in this game.  Pointing that out is not pathetic.  If I were Bioware and read these forums (which they do) I'd understand that I need to put in a lot of gay content and if I had to make a call between giving more to a straight gamer versus gay gamer I'd give it to the gay gamer since they are paying for the lights at EA right now.

There's not. There's 1 lesbian, 1 gay person, and 2 bisexuals, 1 straight female and 3 straight males.

How is that 'a lot of stuff for the gay people'. That's a grand total of 4 straight people, 2 gays and 2 bisexuals.

Even if you lump the LGBT as 1, the ratio is 50/50.

I guess I could always quote someone else. But can you really take anyone on the internet seriously? By internet rules I will continue to play Bioware games, my opinion is valid unless of course it is any kind of opinion that doesn't reflect the general masses.

Have you ever ignored someone?  I notice you keep defending yourself because random strangers that could all be the same person or an old lady in Phoenix name catfish are being catty to you.

To quote Raven from RuPaul's Drag Race, I'm not here to make a crotch full of friends.  You shouldn't be either.  Just say what you want to say.  it's very liberating.

And how's "I want a love interest both strong and beautiful etc" anything like "Cassandra isn't physically appealing to me." or "Did we really need a quest about Dorian's father hating him?"

Because you gave these specific examples as something that's apparently wrong to lock.

Honestly? I'm not a wordsmith so I can't eloquently put what I want to say into words that resonate with everyone. I'm not faulting people's wording of topics. They were not my own.

But someone posting a topic like "Cassandra isn't physically appealing to me" and then giving the reasons why and what they would rather have without being hateful and rude is no different than someone making a thread about wanting a certain archtype(regardless if the thread evolved into portraying an entire demographic or not).

The only difference is the Cassandra thread will get the "F*** you your dumb" posts and be locked while the other will get the "F*** you you're gay" posts and those will be removed instead of the thread being locked.

Anytime someone brings up Straight options and their own dislike for them they get flamed, and the thread gets locked. But when someone posts something about disliking the "gay" options and what they want and they get flamed the flames are removed while the thread goes on. That is the bias I am unhappy with.

But it is also not only the forum mods that upset me, it's also the customer service that upsets me.

Gays and alternative sexualities are not 1/2 of the population in this world but they make up half your team in the game, which means the company takes a serious interest in providing a home for gay gamers.  The real world odds of you having in your party that many gays, bisexuals (and counting your mercs) and transexuals is like a million to one unless you specifically go out to find a group of friends that meet those numbers.  That's awesome sauce.  Women are also majorly represented in that they run the **** out of Ferelden and Orlais. SNAP!

So while its not 60/40 it's a better than IRL average.  Now, if you think that gays make up 60% of Planet Earth then I wonder why we have an overpopulation problem, but I won't make you provide links for it.

Look, --Edit he won't get the ref--, I understand that you really want to come up with someone that you can paintbrush me with so I fit into your worldview of gay hating or whatever it is that you like to think you're fighting against, but you and I have something in common: we both like fish.  I like fish and peen, but I'm not some self-loathing bi and I'm not some crazy riot gurrl, either.

That is just not planet Earth right now.

@Psychevore - No matter how you slice it, this game isn't close to actual (real world) statistics.  These differences could also be glaring to a fanbase that represents those statistics.  Just sayin'.  I'm going to shut up now, as I'm trying to go two whole days without getting a warning point.

You're doing it again.  Why are you apologizing for having an opinion?  Notice that Psychovere is trying to tell me that I called him 'gay' then when that didn't work, he misrepresents my comments again, and I'm pretty much not caring.

Guess why?  I don't know him and he's a stranger.

Just say what you feel like saying and don't let people push you around so much.

First of all, the world is NOT overpopulated. There is more than enough food for everyone to be fed. (1/3rd of the world is overweight, 1/3rd is underfed: do the math, and consider that the countries where people are overweight throw away food by the boatloads)

Second. Real life ratios are meaningless. Bioware wants to provide something for everyone, and in that they succeeded. If they want to give something to everyone but keep the real life ratios, we'd have 97 straight romance options and 3 gay options. That's not just going to work.

Aren't you a gem? Insinuating I am trying to make you come of as a raging homophobe, but then giving a full description of the looks you think I have?

I think we're done here.

LOL.  Sure it's not, but you can always write Greenpeace and argue it with them.  Also tell them global warming is a lie, that's a nice touch.

As for the second half of your post--thanks for making my argument for me.  As I said there is a ton of stuff for the gay gamer because if we were going with real life ratios we'd haev 97 straight romance options and 3 gay ones, we don't.  Why?  Because Bioware is targeting women (yay!) and the GLBT community (yay!) for their product.  They know their market.  We have half the team because we're the market audience.

Who are you arguing with again?  Because you just made my earlier point so it can't be me.

I felt it was only fair since you've thrice now told me who I am.  Not as much fun when its done back, now is it?

And I highly doubt we're done, but if we are "my thanks".

They are targetting EVERYONE.

For someone who's brought up 'proper business' quite a lot in your 83 posts, you have remakably little business sense.

I actually think the moderation around here has improved tremendously in recent months.

If you don't like a thread, don't click on it. If you don't like a member or another poster, then ignore them.

I'm not sure what the point of announcing that you're going to leave "at a future time" is, other than giving yourself the opportunity to go on and on about what you don't like. Which is what people on the internet do. I'm having a hard time seeing the difference between you and the people that you're complaining about.

But whatever. Do what you like. It's not the first time someone has made an entire thread about how bad BioWare is, or announced that they're leaving, or not buying any more BW products, and it won't be the last.

The OP is saying the future date hoping a moderator will respond before then.  Isnt it obvious?

I just realized that you are researching my posts.

Why?  I'm a giant no one to you.  You shouldn't care what someone who can't even be bothere to make an avatar says about this forum, the company, or you.  This forum is serious business, I guess.  :P

Let this thread die already. OP made a pointless rant and now you people have been going on an on with who's wrong and who's right. We don't care who's better, you're just giving headaches to everyone.

Honestly? I'm not a wordsmith so I can't eloquently put what I want to say into words that resonate with everyone. I'm not faulting people's wording of topics. They were not my own.

See, the thing is, there's difference between the nature of these topics. The "shining gay knight thing" has examples of negative portrayals of gay characters when it comes to their personality ("evil", "promiscuous" etc) and asks for content which puts such gay characters in more pleasant light.

In contrast, when you have someone complain "Cassandra is fugly, I want my LI to look pretty" this implies that not being beautiful is something bad. This, unlike the gay knight premise is a view many people will disagree with (either because it hits close home with them or out of simple empathy) and so it sparks arguments and insults.

The "do we really need gay content" thing is even worse, because it simply boils down to not wanting to see content that the author has no personal interest in or happens to dislike it, which is obviously going to do nothing but upset these who do want to see this content. I mean, when it's about removing/hiding content instead of putting it in the game then it's pretty much the opposite of what the 'gay knight' is about.

Do you see now why such different in their nature topics can get different treatment in the end?
