Did you perhaps kill it with a Reaver before it turned invincible?

Keep working on making your character stronger so you don't feel like the giants are invincible. I've killed them many times on every difficulty and they can be tough to kill if you don't have a good character.

No. No reaver in the party for the 3 times its happened tonight.

Pretty sure he meant that the giants just stop taking damage entirely.

 

I've had the same thing happen to me a couple times in MP and in the story before the patch.  It seems to be set off when you kill the giant while it's on its knees, in my experience.  Were the giants you were fighting on their knees when you killed them?

He means actually invincible, where it doesn't play its death animation after being brought to zero health, and instead plays its idle animation for however long it takes the host to bite the bullet and lose all his XP.

I wonder if one has tried to hack it for a long time, to see if you can destroy it like undead dogs can be?

I had this happen in Elven Ruins. Team killed the Giant when he had just got back up, after falling to his knees. He was partially stuck near a tree, but not within it. He took no damage, any status effect proccing abilities gave an "immune" status. We tried to kill him with a full team triangulated on his massiveness. After approximately 10 minutes of plinking away, the host finally jumped... Restarted wave... Got the same bug on replay. So everyone jumped lobby, like rats from the Titanic... Good times

Sadly it isn't. Happens sometimes on PS4 aswell.

is this just a version of the bug that when you kill things, they just sit there not moving and the game doesn't count them as dead?

Had it happen on my PS3 a few times.  It's annoying, especially since the key won't drop as a result.

I've also seen it with those large rat/dog hybrid creators that I don't know the names off.

 

Only once though, so nothing special compared to the key not dropping.

I haven't seen invincible giants, only an invincible Lurkers and dogs.
