Which they had a viable opinion not to include the female assassin. Their reason made sense if you break it down

Of course, doesn't mean the SJWs were any less butthurt.

Looks like you're largely going on about a strawman that exists solely in your imagination, considering the fact that there were numerous female protags even back in the 80s. Neither is there a shortage of non-"skinhead males with beards" if one were to go out and look for 'em.

I'm fairly certain at this point that SJWs don't care for history. In their view all games made prior to 2000 are sexist/homophobic/bigoted/whatever and made primarily by white straight men which therefore makes them terrible.

I look at a lot of early game developers and think of the accomplishments they made especially given the more limited hardware of the time. The SJWs are only concerned with some imagined injustice because the proportion of white straight males is a problem according to themselves. It doesn't matter if a development team is made of transgender dwarfs from Polynesia if they make crap games.

Promoting your own "diversity" is what companies do when they've run out of ways to promote their actual products.

Are you asking this question in 2015? They are automatically bad.

Polygon lowered their score of Bayonetta due to their petty gripe with the game. Pretty humorous that christian game reviewers are more objective than these SJW wankers.

Still have no idea what constitutes an 'objective' review. Sure, you can talk about certain objectively quantifiable features of a game (frame rate, glitches, optimization, etc.), but even then, the relative weight you give to these factors is a subjective matter. Alpha Protocol, for instance, is plagued by questionable enemy AI and an assortment of glitches that hinder gameplay. For some, that makes it an unplayable piece of crap. For myself and a lot of other gamers, however, it's one of the best games out there; it's got a very fun cast of characters, a complex choice-and-consequence system, and it can be pretty darn funny at times as well.

Given this, I don't see why it's any more problematic to assign more or less weight to political factors than it is to assign more or less weight to glitches and the like. Like with all other aspects of games, some reviewers will care more or less about a game's politics than others. Let a thousand flowers bloom, I say.

I don't even think a purely objective review would be desirable. Here's an example from film to illustrate: On purely 'objective' criteria, Christopher Nolan is not a great filmmaker. He frequently has shots that don't match (as does Scorsese), and often uses 20-30 shots to communicate the same information that any other filmmaker would be able to communicate in 10-15. If you went by purely objective reviews, you'd probably end up skipping all of his films. But I'm not convinced that this would be the most informed decision. Same goes for objective reviews of games, as far as I'm concerned.

well there are too many of them but its what sells best, mostly because most gamers wish they could be them :D

EDIT: also, totally giving the above post a like because it calls AP "the best game out there"

I like that morality/game review style.

I don't. Since when are fictional events and fictional characters supposed to be moral?

In my opinion, an objective review of a video game or any similar product would be completely statistical. It would be similar to how one would gauge the quality of software cause video games at their core are just examples of entertainment software.

I like it cause It seperates what the reviewers moral opinion to the quality of the product basically. Which has been showing some traces of seeping in.

Well you'll probably find the review above to be wasted then, unless of course you don't find the review to be wasted./objective

Sounds like the reviewers problem for not being proper El Presidente material.

haha I think an objective type of review would be better suited for the people working on the project. The audience following this media does need these subjective reviews

Why would would I care about whatever bizarre political views the reviewer has? That's not going to help me determine if the game is worth buying.

This is like offering a cure to  hangover for  somebody who doesn't even drink alcohol. This is an evident click bait portion of a review. By it's very design, it exists solely  to be ridiculed, questioned and commented by people like you and me. Sites and authors behind this trash don't want some sort of a fair or clear or  reasonable way to deal with anything. They don't have a " problem with this"  They want to put out reviews that we talk about. See? It is working well enough.

Nobody feels genuinely " bad " for playing Tropico. lol. it is a made up opinion created to serve purpose of some bullshit narrative. They just want more traffic.
