After finishing DA:I, I decided to play DA: Origins all over again. It took a little getting used to for combat, LOL. However, when you settle down in camp for the first time, you get a chance to speak to Morrigan and ask her about Flemeth. She goes on to tell her version of it which is much different than Leiliana.

  1. Flemeth was a very beautiful woman who was married to Orsen the bard.
  2. They decided to trade her to the Chieftain in exchange for wealth and power.
  3. The chieftain didn't have money so he killed Orsen.
  4. This took place many centuries ago before Ferelden even existed.
  5. She spoke to spirits and swore revenge.
  6. Flemeth was chased into the wilds by the Chieftain's men and there she found the demon (Perhaps this was Mythal?) which made her strong

What is interesting, in the conversation, Flemeth never turns into an Abomination.

I was just pondering this.

I understand, I finished DAI and saw Flemeth/Solas, I just thought it was kind of interesting of how it may have been mentioned in DAO.

Though it's established, through Wynne, that a mage may be possessed and not immediately become an abomination; if the Fade spirit is a gentle one and the mage a person of great will and strength.

I always thought Wynne's thing was just a cool character twist; but now I'm thinking it was a purposeful design choice - to establish early on that beneficient possession is possible. And then you have Zathrian to further demonstrate that becoming an abomination is not an immediate thing and that it may grant a freakishly long lifespan.

As for #6, I am now positive that was Mythal.

Caveat: Most Thedosian folk use 'abomination' to refer to any person who has been possessed by a Fade spirit. I am using it in the sense of 'holy **** this is a monster we have to kill it right effing now!' Like the monsters in the Circle Tower.
