I'm surprised at how slowly you level up.

In other rpg games I've played the first 10 levels are raised quickly, and then it gradually gets harder.

Kinda surprised at how long it takes just to make it past lvl 5.

There isn't a max level. But there is in fact a soft cap of level 30. Basically mobs won't scale to your level anymore so decent xp will be nonexistent. And I want to say that will be enough to fill out two trees but I'm not 100% on that.

Hit Level 25 in my first playthrough.  Tarot Card tip appeared that said you will no longer receive XP for killing anything three levels or more under you.

Which means (by that point) there's practically no way to earn any meaningful amounts of XP until we get some DLC.

The highest I've heard is lvl 25.  I made it to lvl 24 during my completionist run, but I did that in such a way that I believe I left some experience on the table unearned.  I'd be surprised though if someone made it much beyond lvl 25.

Soft cap is around 20~25 and the hard cap is 27. I used CE to see what was the max level.

I just reached level 20 after completing Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. I've not explored Emprise Du Lion or Emerald Graves at all, and about half way through exploring Exalted Plains (Yes, I do EVERYTHING).

So considering there is still 3 more main Quest lines and a ton of side quests I need to do, I've only killed one dragon, and the fact I have the first perk in each category that boosts XP when reading codex, I am pretty sure I will get past level 25 before I am done.

If that helps.

Yeah, when asked point blank over the summer, the devs said that there was no real level cap but were vague about it.  The fact that you'll reach a point where you get no XP from defeating enemies makes it really hard to get past the high 20s.  I got to 25 in my first playthrough and I did a lot, but not everything.  At least in this one, your characters are plenty strong enough to defeat the tough enemies at that level.  For me, that wasnt the case in Origins.

Personally though, in any RPG, I feel that if Im willing to grind and put my time into it, why should there be a level cap in a single player game?  If I want to spend 200 hours at it and get every skill on every tree and a crazy high stat sheet, why shouldn't I be able to?

No hard cap but, basically 25 is the soft cap, you can get past that but, it's slower than molassass in January and, there isn't much to do.

I can't believe you think leveling up is slow in this game. I was level 4 before going into the Hinterlands. I was level 11 by the time I decided to move on. I'm a little less than 50% to "max level" and I'm still in the very first area. I'm actually worried about leveling too fast and not being able to enjoy later areas in the game.

In my opinion, leveling is TOO FAST!

Yep i agree, i think it's too fast, epecially early levels 1-15 they should slow it down a bit.

Super mega this.

Slower leveling and a NG+ would make this just about the best game they've ever made, in my opinion.

I disagree.  I think that the leveling speed is fine, its just there need to be more accesable levels above the "cap".

I did basically nothing, like not even a quarter of the side quests and was 20 before wicked hearts. Even dragons don't hurt me :( leveling is def too fast and mages too op.

I did a number of PTs, once hitting level 20 after Val Royeaux but that's because I was sweeping up some of the maps before I touched the next step in the main quest and a few selected companion quests.

The max level I reached is near 25 and that's about it. Some of the mobs may scale accordingly, like a few groups in Emprise Du Lion but not all.

I think leveling is way too fast in the beginning. My first Playthrough by the time I was done running around the Hitherlands and the Storm Coast I had out leveled the main storyline. I went to do the mission where you pick a side and when I saw recommended level 4-7 I was like ****.

The need to slow down your leveling in the beginning and honestly what materials and schematics you have access to because it's so easy to become over leveled and overpowered in the game.
