If Sera was in Origins I'd definitely not recruit her. As the leader we have to put up with a lot of things, although the group banter in Origins is less bothersome than game 2 & 3. I despise drunkards in reality. I won't tolerate their behaviour around me nor give them a hand when they're down. But in a game with a crisis situation what matters is finding the ally you can trust to watch your back. Oghren had some good warrior qualities, so I kept him around.

Same here, Oghren is my tank Buddy and has some good warrior qualities, so I kept him around too. if people don't like him for his Drunkness then they are sodding fools who have no clue in warrior classes at all.

I have to admit , being stuck with Ogren sucks :( ( i don't hate him because he's always drunk, it's just he didn't stuck with me ) But coming from DAO he's a 2 hand warrior and he kicks mobs really hard lol Since i never specced him to sword and shield i am doing it right now slowly .

Morrigan: That's a most offensive odor!
Oghren: And you're looking at me?
Morrigan: Should I be looking elsewhere? Have you forgotten about the fish you stored in your backpack, perhaps?
Oghren: I was saving it. Won't be ready for the lye for at least another day.
Morrigan: Even the Chasind did not have such disgusting habits, and they consumed the flesh of the dead.
Oghren: Fine, fine. I'll soak it in the lye now. Have it your way, Miss Squeamish.
Morrigan: That's not what I... no, never mind. Just... get it over with. Quickly.

I couldn't find a way to hate Oghren if I tried. As soon as I got him in party the first time, I started to think of which areas to best utilize him for entertainment value. Poor guy had a wife who went off her rocker over power, left him for a chick, then gave her party over to the deadspawn. I'll cut him some slack and let him make inappropriate drunken comments. It's his way of showing he cares. :P

While I agree that I hate it when story-telling of any kind is thrown off when you have certain characters just disappear, I probably wouldn't try to raise an angry mob of villagers over it. :P

Keeping Oghren around makes more sense than having written an alternate way of saving the world by pulling a Ricky Gervais in The Invention of Lying. Though, why Oghren's approval rating didn't go way, way up on that one is beyond me. :D

As i said, Bioware had no right to drop Oghren out of the game and make no mention of his whereabouts. It wouldn't have hurt the game had Oghren been mentioned even if he couldn't make a cameo. Imagine if it was your warden, and he/she didn't get a single reference of any kind, How would you feel? Fans would probably try to raise an angry mob of villagers over it. That's how i feel about Oghren.  <_< Im not crazy as some users make me out to be, i'm just extremely pissed off that Oghren wasn't even mentioned of any kind.

I think it's how you've presented your case of Oghren that makes people think you've gone bonkers. :P For you, it's the Oghren not getting props that bugs you. For me, it's having "Screw the witch, save the world" as a plot device. But the entertainment value of having Alistair be the father is pretty great. I'd love to see someone whip up a Maury comic on that one.

To be fair, how Oghren was treated is how I feel about Raistlin in the last book that was published of him. He's my mage. WotC screwed with that book and the authors. Truth be told, I'd sooner have him Oghrened than have rehashed junk written just to make cash.

I'm not bonkers for showing my appreciation for Oghren. What about everyone else who keeps harping about wanting to play as their warden, Does that make them Bonkers 2?

"...makes people think you've gone bonkers." Context, dearie.

Either way, it's a video game character. I'm not bothered by what the company decides to do with their product. The game industry is a numbers world like any other. All we gamers do is take it or leave it. If it bothers you enough to write angry walls of text, then leave it. Or make a mod and find a very convincing voice actor. There's a cringeworthy one for some dude in Origins, but someone did it.

Well there is the Feedback & Suggestions form that i and several other fans of Oghren have been requesting Bioware to bring that said dwarf back in a DLC or 2. But the big problem is that this place is swarmed with so many trolls that the Devs don't take the time to read what's being said cause they dubbed this place as a toxic environment according to Dave Gaider.

Also telling me to make a mod and find a very convincing voice actor to voice Oghren wouldn't be the same since Steve Blum did it best.

I hate Bull like people hate Oghren. They have the same lecherous persona in a way... but Oghren is funnier. Also, Steve Blum is better than FPJ.

What about Sera the Elf? I hear she's a lot worse then Iron Bull.

I never got that really. She teases a little, but it's not constant like those other two.

Some say she's a poor version of Oghren. Every time she opens her yap, i want to shove that arrow of hers down her mouth for being annoying.

I c, I really don't understand why Bioware would exclude Oghren from the games without a single mention of his whereabouts. It wouldn't have hurt the game had Oghren been mentioned even if he couldn't make a cameo. Is that really too much to ask?

I was always fond of Oghren. Strikes me that a normal guy might end up just like him after years of fighting in dark tunnels against inhuman monstrosities while losing comrades left and right. The massive amount of booze is a way to dampen the pain, and forget hard memories. The boorish humor is but a facade for a seriously wounded soul.

I could also be putting too much thought into it.

No, I think you're onto something there.  Something is definitely hurting Oghren, and he thinks of himself as too macho to admit it.  I feel like in some ways he's an in-game version of the aging vets I see nearly every day around here.  (I live not far from a VA hospital.)

War does terrible things to people, and it doesn't matter whether you're fighting darkspawn in the Deep Roads or your fellow humans somewhere far from home, it's still not going to get any easier to watch your comrades-in-arms fight and die every day.  I think that's where Oghren, and Sigrun too, are coming from in terms of their POV.  Sigrun just seems to handle it better.

So I'm really confused. I loved Oghren. But why are people saying he got dropped from the game? Do they just mean there's been no mention of him or something more? Because other characters have also been pretty much unmentioned right? Like Wynne and Velanna. Or did Bioware officially strike him off?

Read my previous posts where i have been making claims that Oghren was excluded from Dragon age 2 and Inquisition with no mention of any kind.

Spoiler

I know right? If you call the dwarf in Redcliff, Dwyin, a coward for choosing not to fight, Oghren says "You tell him! You are a nasty piece of work, hiding in here while the rest of the town dies."

It was when I realized he wasn't in there because he had no better options and likes to fight. He actually wanted to help those people.

In WoT Volume 2, there is a letter Oghren writes to his son before the siege of Vigil's Keep.
It's basically a goodbye and it's very touching.
