So I'm really confused. I loved Oghren. But why are people saying he got dropped from the game? Do they just mean there's been no mention of him or something more? Because other characters have also been pretty much unmentioned right? Like Wynne and Velanna. Or did Bioware officially strike him off?
We know what happened to Wynne because of a book. Of course she was talking about her imminent death quite a bit in Origins anyway. There's no particular reason reason to know what happens to Velanna seeing as how she's a deranged forest hermit if she hasn't gone to her death in the dark roads. As for Oghren...well he wouldn't have fit very well into the "The Wardens have all adopted 'being a git' as their strategy" storyline in Inquisition. I like to think he's one of the Hero's foursome on their quest to find a cure for taint.
Indeed @springacres that's got to be one of the funniest lines Oghren says the "Nobody touches Oghren's junk AND LIVES." But I think it was brilliantly delivered too by the voice actor. He seems to do comedic aggressive lines pretty well as I think he does Grunt's voice in Mass Effect as well and does an e4qually good job there.

Yeah, whatever one thinks of Oghren, I think it would be unfair not to give him his due credit in that he'd totally blow off these crazy ass Orlesian Wardens. I just cannot see him going along for some sort of demon summoning, especially since as a warrior, he'd be nothing more than a battery for their shenanigans.
Oghren was the source of laughs from me. I was never one to quite literally laugh out loud in a game, but Maker did he make me laugh. I never spoiled the game for myself, so most of it was a surprise to me. I think my favorite was the drunken camp moment where he hits on you because he's purely plastered. I also love the "mad dwarven stallion" line. I'd totally have replied with that.
But if I look at it from a realistic perspective, (and I know it's fantasy), you'd need someone like Oghren in a group of companions like that. With all the near-death experiences, you need someone there who just doesn't care about anything beyond fighting and staying alive. He didn't seem to have much of a family, ended up basically casteless (socially dead for the Dwarves), so the poor guy doesn't have much to be happy about. So he gets really drunk all the time. Thankfully he's a funny drunk and you only have to worry about him getting handsy. You give him a place in life and become that one good friend who won't judge him. In return, you get a loyal friend who will kick booty and celebrate over drinks. ![]()
I wasn't too crazy about Velanna. I did her quest then totally dropped her. She felt like a poor replacement for Morrigan. All they did was change her hair color and make her a bit wacked out. It looked to me like they barely changed the character model.
I have a video here of one gameplay I did, and during Leliana's singing, Oghren just fell over drunk. It's hilarious
When she starts, you can hear the sound of him falling on his ass and then the camera zoom out and it shows him on the ground lol
I wish I'd seen him ride my mabari.

Oh, definitely. A different VA would have made Oghren a different character entirely. With comedy, delivery is everything.
And this thread is reminding me that I need to get back to my most recent Awakening playthrough and finish clearing darkspawn out of Vigil's Keep. With Oghren's help of course. ![]()

I like Oghren as a fighter and his interest in a former sweetheart at the Spoiled Princes is IMHO interesting.
Oghren speaks his mind----for better or worst.
