Do you need to have a support mage on your team? I've been trying a few different builds and I like the tempest, tank but I have no idea what to do with the last two mages. I've been using Solas as purely support and Doria as the offence. Now could I just have both Solas and Doria both have Barrier + elegant defence?

Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

Beyond 1 point in barrier, you don't really need to invest in a dedicated "support" build. What mages excel at is crowd control. Static Cage, Winter's Grasp, Wall of Fire, etc. will go a long way towards protecting your party by disabling enemies, while also priming them for combos (freeze/paralyze).

The party buffs are more spread out between the classes this time around. I think warriors have the most buffing utility.

If you want more direct support from your mages you can go for dispel which is a great all-around utility. The Knight-Enchanter specialization also has some improvements for your barriers as well as a healing/reviving focus ability.

I here for the tank everyone says to go Black but I like Cera. Can Cera service as a good tank?

And to that my other two mages will then be a rift mage and a necromancer and me being a tempest and the other either a champion (black) or Templar (cera) good?

Cassandra and Iron Bull can both fill the roll of tank very well. Make sure to grab turn the bolt/blade passives from W&S tree, shield wall, and some taunts from the vanguard tree. Anything beyond that is gravy.

I can't find a Templar tank build. It seems like it's better to go with a two-handed Templar instead.

the more you play nightmare

the more you realize crowd control is better

sure revive is nice and so is the 35% mana/stam regen with active barrier

but locking down and controlling the battle field with various walls and mines are great too.
