On my current playthrough I've killed 4 dragons but I'm getting a pathetic amount of crafting materials from them (dragon bone/scales, etc.).

I've killed 4 dragons and I only have about 12 of each material total, averaging 3 drops of a material per dragon. On my previous playthroughs I averaged ~15 per each dragon, 5 times more than I have now. My playthroughs were all more or less the same so I have no idea what's going on.

I'm now killing the Exalted Plains high dragon over and over again to see if the loot amount changes, but after some time I get an even smaller amount (1 dragon scale/dragon bone) and reloading doesn't seem to fix it.

Did anyone else encounter this and can you tell me if there's a way around it? Killing 10 high dragons for a total of 30 dragon bone/scales isn't an attractive prospect.

I think it's rng again. I have done 2 play throughs and the first time I got over 100 dragon bone and other parts the second play through I've got so much less I don't think the dragons give the same every time

It's bizarre, really. Is this RNG playthrough-based? I've killed the exalted plains dragon about 7-8 times and he never dropped above 5 pieces of a specific material. Having a hard time imagining it would be different with other dragons. Sucks hard, considering I can only make one piece of armor with the materials I get from killing 10 high dragons at this pace.

In my previous 2 playthroughs both had well over 100 materials, this time every dragon seems to drop only tiny fragments. No idea why it's not set up so the drop number can't fall below a specific amount.

Use the shop dupe, double your amount...perfect cure for an RNG reaming

They do have a set minimum, but the lower dragons have a very low minimum of 1. There is no seed specific to every playthrough. Its random.

The dragons that drop big amounts of mats are the Emerald Graves, Emprise (all 3) and Hissing Wastes dragons. All of these will give you at least 10 of each mat, and often closer to 20. The others are more stingy.

Right - the level 20+ dragons drop a lot of mats, like 15-20 of each.

This is what I do, using the parts to up the damage on Bianca.

I don't use it to make my armour super powerful though... if only because the colour scheme is appalling.

Orange? Really, Bioware?

You can always save and reload. its poor design to allow low dragons to drop 1-5 considering how valuable dragon materials are.

every dragon has a cap to the drop for each type of material.

for example vinsomer drops max 10 dragon bone 10 leather and 10 cloth as perfect drop with range between 5-10 for each type so it is possible to get 5, 7, 10 respectively.

sandy howler will drop 20 dragon bone, 20 leather and 20 cloth as perfect drop etc.

to farm and get the most out of the dragons, you are suppose to save before the fight and keep killing to get as near to those numbers as possible for min/max.

of cos, you don't need to do that if you don't intend to min/max
