I'm playing my 3rd playthrough and the quest in the Hinterlands where you go into the dungeon and find the first rift globe/orb will not start? Has anyone else had this problem? It worked fine on my last 2 playthroughs finding the orbs all over the place but I can't activate them (I'm assuming it's because I haven't done this quest)

You probably didn't trigger the quest yet.

It's Solas's approval fetch quest so he needs to give you the quest before you can interact with them. Take Solas to the Hinterlands then go back to Haven. He'll tell you about this artifact that he sensed in the Hinterlands and will give you a quest. Do the quest and you're set.

I didn't know that.  I guess I just did it right by accident both playthroughs.

You just need him in your party for the quest to be activated (at least that's what happens in my game), he will tell you about the artifact as soon as you get close enough to the location.
