Everyone knows that feedback comes in both positive and negative flavors, so I thought I'd risk the structure of space-time and the balance between worlds by starting a thread on BSN intended for positive responses to the game.

I have just finished my first play-through (male human archer FWIW), and absolutely loved it, despite the bugs that popped up here and there. So here are a few of the things that DA:I did that I really appreciated.

BIG - I loved the big areas, especially playing as an archer, because you could engage from range in many encounters; you could also see enemies in the distance instead of having them magically "appear" all around you (and the exceptions like demons and undead made sense). I also loved the vistas that this created - there were literally dozens of times when I stopped and looked around and thought 'wow - this is the cover of a fantasy novel'. It was great that there were so many things to do, large and small, and each little fetch quest was made personal, even if obviously 'the inquisitor" should not take the time to do them.

Large but distinct cast of characters - whether you like everyone or not, they don't blend into each other, and each has an interesting story.

Vibrant colors - DA:O was great but did have a muted color palate - some of the outdoor areas in DA:I made you feel the sunshine (which is nice, in the middle of winter :) ).

Varied environments. One of the things that made the world feel so big, is that most of the environments were bursting with 'stuff' - different for each. It also made the exalted plains feel really dead (presumeably the intent) because it was so bare of anything other than wolves.

The ending. No "pick a color of lyrium to spread over the world" here. Two twists, one that I enjoyably anticipated, one that took me completely by surprise. And a feeling that "my" efforts had changed the world. OK, maybe more evil options would have given more meaning to my good guy choices, but the ending/ epilogue was great. I also loved that the "Real" story happened behind the scenes.

The Devs get a lot of grief, so I though it would be nice to say thanks for once.

tl:dr good game Bioware; tin hat on now :)

Can you please make me a tin hat?

I think I need one.

Loved the scene with most of the companions sitting together, drinking, playing games, sharing stories.

Loved the bard.

Loved some of the humor.

Loved some of the companions.

Loved complaining about the stupid design choices of the game.

Not much LOVE but a lot of "yeah its ok, nice.."
And a lot of "this is just stupid.."
If the game is addictive it would be because of ocd needs and wanting to see how the story goes.
theres a lot of bugs, a lot of visible issues and a lot of even more visible patchwork of some of said issues.. kind of insulting if they think its not noticeable.

I have somewhat, to some extent, enjoyed the game, ill give them that, but it was only after i turned to a knight enchanter and made the entire combat system "unnotieable".

Its just sad to see a game i loved turn into this in the end but if they wanted an ok game for everyone... gj i guess?

So yeah, i love all the character interaction stuff. One of the few things that somewhat survived from the first game.

Loved the companions (most, except 1)

Loved the Advisors

Loved the real "Villain". Bravo Bioware for making such a twist!

Loved the places... most of them at least. Exalted Plain had successfully give me creep.

Loved Haven. I still love it more than Skyhold, better ambience, less pretense.

Love the Combat

Love the cutscenes

Love the Romance

Love the armours (Yay! no more silly mage hats! No more Mage Guys Must Wear Skirts!)

I also loved judging ppl. I always had at least somewhat of what i was planning to do as an option. Not once have i killed someone. Always rathered using them to my advantage or one time making someone tranquil because its worse than death imo.

I agree with above. What really made the game for me were the fleshed out characters. It was it's greatest strength.

Judging people was fun.

The locations were beautiful.

Skyhold was a cool idea.

The reason there's so much negative feedback is that there's a 'but' behind all of these and that's because when you give something great and it falls short it is even more painful. It's like having the most delicious piece of cake and then suddenly someone smashes it.

Loved the companions.

Loved just how much conversations/quests/storylines there were for every advisor/companion. No one felt shortchanged in terms of character development or content. They all felt fully fleshed out. If there was one thing that Bioware definitely did not cut anything significant on, it was the character interactions.

Really liked Skyhold as a base

Moderately enjoyed the crafting system, but desired more variety

Probably my favorite voice acting cast of all time in any game

Loved the emotional depth of some of the missions (Adamant, Haven, Harbor Wilds)

Character creation was very satisfying despite it being annoying that you couldn't change your appearance after.

Loved the graphics and views in the game.

Loved the banter (when it works).

I loved that (for me at least) I never had any gamebreaking bugs or things that prevented me from enjoying the game. (outside of banter bug which I didn't realize i had until i had already beaten the game and fallen in love with it)

The thing I loved the most though which is basically a combination of all the things together, is that the game made me constantly crave more of the world and story. There are games you just play, and then there are games you "live" in the sense that they occupy your thoughts while playing and while busy doing life activities. DA:I was definitely a game I lived. I was always looking forward to playing more while simultaneously dreading getting to the end.

Easy. My list without any "but":

  • New engine
  • Crafting system
  • Animation
  • Sounds and overall audio design. Superb work!
  • Beautiful locations
  • Skyhold
  • Judging
  • Companion dialogues (incl. banters) and quests. Great as always!
  • Bard

I am positive the no key drop in multiplayer is annoying.
