The elementalist can freeze an enemy and then use stone fist to trigger a shatter combo, which is supposed to deal high ice damage, but it doesn't. Why won't it cause any extra damage?

On the other hand, longshot also causes the shatter combo, but it actually causes massive extra ice damage.

It cant be the case of being unable to trigger your own combos because the templar can do it. Anyone know what the go is?

I think I may have read somewhere that it's bugged, but don't quote me on that.

Because combos are "mostly" cross-characters.

Anything you setup and detonate yourself will generate a "weak" combo.

Anything setup by 1 character and detonated by another will generate a "full" combo.

Morale: Don't detonate your own combos if you want to benefit from the full potential.

Shatter is a cross-class combo.  Cross-class combos don't have to actually be cross class.  Stonefist is an Impact Detonator, and Freeze + Impact = Shatter, not basic.

Freeze + Eldritch would be a basic combo, regardless of whether or not two different characters used the effects.

Combo damage is determined by your weapons base damage. Staves have the weakest base damage out of all weapons and therefore create the weakest combos.

so the elementalist combo should work right? thing is, the word 'shatter' even appears but thats about it, no ice damage

In SP, Freeze + Impact detonator works for only 1 point of damage, Freeze + Precision Detonator is fine though. Probably it's a bug carried over into MP as well.

Here's a guide to combos: http://www.brightsid...ll-combo-guide/

After reading the guide, you can clearly see combos were designed to avoid same class combos. Stone Fist being an impact detonator is dubious at best. Bug or not, I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended or they didn't realize the impact (no pun intended) it would have if the very same character had the possibility to combo himself.

Stone fist has the same bug as 2h warrior abilities with Shatter, it does 0 or 1 dmg

Well plenty of classes can perform their own comboes, so yes stone fist is a bug. Templar wrath+cleanse, alch frost flask+twin fangs/shadow strike, keeper with shocked+weaken->sleep->missiles = nightmare and so on
