Can't remember where I read it, but someone, maybe Walters, maybe not, was heavily influenced by Uncharted 3. That's why Shepard becomes more of a predefined character and not a PC the player controls.

I thought it was influenced by the game Deux Ex. I might be wrong about that

Correct.  Ripped off is probably the more correct term.

I've said it before but the biggest flaw with the shipped endings for me was not in the ideas but in the execution.

Don't tell me my choices are going to have vastly different repercussions and then show me that they don't.

That's why, despite its own flaws, the Extended Cut is so well received by people. It took each ending and made them unique instead of just a colour filter over pretty much identical cinematics.

If the Extened Cut had been the original endings I don't think we would have seen even half of the fuss that occurred.

I think you mean "not show me that they did" there rather than "show me that they didn't." The cosmetic similarity between the final lightshows in the original ending didn't actually mean that they left the world in anything like the same state. We've had a lot of threads go in really dopey directions over this sort of rhetoric.

"If we kill the hero and his friends, destroy the Normandy, and burn Earth.... we might win the artistic award"

I meant what I typed.

The old saying of "show. Don't tell" comes into play.

"How do we end a story with Sheperd that makes him/her make the biggest decision the galaxy has ever seen?"

You sure? As written, you're just wrong. What we see in the three endings simply doesn't mean that the galaxy is in anything like the same condition in those three endings, and you know it. The EC didn't really add anything to our knowledge of what those endings were. except for killing off a bunch of bad interpretations.

Yes I'm quite sure.

Are you honestly saying that the slight differences in the ending cinematics adequately reflected the repercussions of three pretty huge choices?

Come on. I know you are smarter than to believe that.
