What do all the dialogue icons mean?

When choosing a dialogue option from the wheel there is frequently a pic in the middle letting you know what type of response it is such as a heart for romance options.

But there are some random ones that I only see occasionally that I have no clue what they mean such as a crown.

Is there a list somewhere of all the icons and what they mean?

There are 4 dialogue/knowledge perks, which are the first choices of each of the 4 groups, when you get to pick perks. If you put a point in each of those, they each have an icon of their own and you get extra dialogue. I pick each of those first since I like to have all the information and choices I can get. I can't remember what icon goes with each perk but I make sure to pick those options first, in dialogue, when they show up.

There's a list in the guide. There's a picture of it floating around, shouldn't be super hard to find. The crown is related to the nobility/politics perk, iirc.

star = arcane
crown = noble
bird = secrets
book = history

A few of them give you options that would otherwise need you to have a certain companion with you.

What guide are you referring to?

From the looks of it, I assume it's the official strategy guide. What I have is just a picture of the book open to the page listing them all. I think I found it on tumblr.

Just snapped this pic real quick with my phone, if it's what you're looking for.

I haven't played a non-mage yet but are there even warrior or rogue options?

I'm on my second rogue playthrough, and I haven't encountered any rogue options.

I haven't encountered any. Might've been scrapped, or perhaps left for DLC content.

That leaves out the arcane icon (from the secrets perk).

The official manual actually shows all of the icons (starting on Page 12). It's about the only useful information it has. (You can download the manual from EA's support site.)

Didn't they bother to explaî these in the game somewhere ? It seems weird that we have either to buy a guide or search internet to understand the core mechanic that is the dialogue wheel.

No, nobody gets a manual.

The game directs you to a link where you can download the manual if you so desire (at least on PC, which is amusing because about 90% of the "PC" manual only covers the Xbox controller interface).

There is an incomplete list of KBM keybinds, but then they are never mentioned again. And since the game plays differently with different input devices, much of the manual's text is actually incorrect when applied to KBM.

Also, when I first followed the link to get the manual, EA would only let me download the French one.

Is there actually an Xbox One manual somewhere?!

I would love to read it.

Another perk of modern game development then :-).

I'm betting the Prima Guide is a misprint, they meant to put "Human" down with "Elf", "Dwarf", etc... and meant to put "Arcane" where the "Human" icon is.

The guide kinda sucks anyway, It doesn't give any kind of detail on many things in the game. War table missions, schematics, etc... It's a poor investment. There are plenty of Wiki's around now with more information than the guide.
