I think the solution to this is one race per game. One game you're restricted to a dwarf with a dwarf-centric plot. Next game you're an elf and you play in an elf-centric plot. So on and so forth.

This probably won't be a popular idea though. I'm crazy like that.

I actually think I would have had a deeper experience with the multiple origins design that they had. I would have loved to play a neverran and I think it would have added a lot more replay value in my opinion.

We would probably have gotten more armor and hair too, as resources are not spread out over 4 models.

That never happened. In fact David Gaider said the opposite thing, that if he feels like changing something he will. Case in point Leliana.

I dislike Gaider.

Well, no, that's not true. Maybe in private, he's a great guy. But his public persona is....not the best.

I follow sports, and there's certain athletes you know the teams say to them, "Don't say any more than you have to. 'It was a great game. We all gave 110%.' Just shut up and let us handle the rest."

Someone at Bioware or EA should say that to Gaider. It's like, the man has no filter and constantly comes off as offensive and condescending.

Can anyone say:  "DLC".

Wonder what the outcry will be if/when that happens.

Bioware isn't known for "free content".  If they're releasing features after the official release date, it will be a DLC.

(The ME3 ending situation is ONE example of free DLC, and NOT a precedent.  I doubt it will EVER be repeated.)

Maybe, just maybe, these timed quests will add to the flavor of the game, though, and make sense of the current state of the game.

The sad thing is I went to Crestwood fully expecting that same content to be there. You can imagine my disappointment after the fact.

This is exactly why the gloriously crafted, huge side areas seem so detached from the rest of the game. Managing the provinces, making tough decisions about how to proceed - this was all supposed to be part of some over arching plan to foil the the bad guy at every turn and drive him to a confrontation.

Crestwood in final game looks completely different plus quest is also different....Everything looks heavily dumbed down and lame in final version....

That Skyrim-esque compass needed to go, though. Blegh.

It probably wouldn't be used if the game developers didn't state themselves that they took heavy inspiration from skyrim when making DA:I

That was the Western Approach. And how do you know it had anything to do with EA? They may simply have decided to alter certain aspects of the game in the intervening time. Other than the Red Templar attack on Crestwood's keep, everything in that demo has an analogue in the final game.

Um....What you saw were Alpha versions of the game. You should NEVER expect anything from an ALPHA version to be in the game.  All games have this. Have you seen the Alpha trailers of DA2?

Totally. Or if you can find Alpha footage on YouTube for the original Mass Effect. That was VERY different to the final product.

I'm speechless. I had never seen this video before. The game in the video looks so much better than the one that was released. Wow. I had no idea. I would gladly have sacrificed racial choices for a game that was developed from the mechanics in that video. Gladly.

I've played through the released game once and have struggled to play a second time but I just can't do it. The ranged combat is so incredibly boring. The melee combat is only slightly better. None of your choices have any impact. Even the major choice about which faction to support in the mage / templar war has no lasting impact. What happened to the game where choices made a difference? Without that, the replayability is terrible and frankly the game is boring. Whether I play a mage or archer or warrior, all the zones will play exactly the same as they did last time. Ugh.

Why, Bioware? Why?

Why?  Well, if adding additional races was a culprit that required more work, something had to give and this was it.  In short, the why would be due to trying to respond to the demands of some fans.

While I like have multiple races, the fact is that there's a lot more effort that goes into making the rest of the game reactive to those distinctions.  If they added races in late, well then...  There you go.

If you have issues with content being cut look to the people who HATE playing humans.    I will agree that this game would have worked without races but a great many of us are still having fun and getting our money's worth nevertheless.

Also...they already said they are planning to add content back in the game in future updates

Said otherway, they just dont cut it off the game, they are saving it to DLCs, now be ready to pay more for a ****... XD

I will never trust any word from Bioware's mouth anymore. They promised us (after Me3 backlash) to never, ever show us or tell us things which will not make 100% in the final game and then this happened. When started the game, I searched for some features in the game which they showed in demos and told us in interviews, there are gonna be in the game. And I was so confused and dissapointed when I found out. Just terrible.

I would be ashamed in their place...

Welcome to Peter Molyneux club Bioware, jeez.

What a fake advertising. I still like the game but it is still such let down at the same time. Felt very tricked and my trust is broken.

You guys should teach master courses in melodrama.

Yeah. I posted a link to a Dragon Age 2 trailer that had alpha footage too in it too.  People should have NEVER expected the game to be the same.  It doesn't work that work that way.

You should have NEVER expected it. That was an Alpha Version of the game. Look at all the early trailers of DA2 that had alpha footage.

In some early alpha footage.........Cassandra had WHITE Hair. Stop assuming this has only happened with Inquisition.

So if people are that unhappy...they need to look at the loud "I hate playing humans" crowd.

They basically cut every feature used in advertising.

No they didn't. Thats alpha footage. You should have known better NOT to expect it.

There will NEVER be a dwarf or elf only game. They want the games to sell. What will happen next is they will limit to 2 races. Human and elf.

*Could* they add in similar changes via DLC?

I have no idea how a game is made, but the differences between the current game and the opportunities discussed in the Crestwood video seem quite significant.

Okay then but they are more popular than dwarves and likely will be more popular than Qunari

True but if they're gonna race restrict they may as well do human only at that point.

I think elves will survive since they are the second most popular.  They will likely NEVER devote resources to dwarves again especially since only a small percentage play them.   It will be interesting to see how many have played Qunari.

They better not restrict races again i would not buy it >_> i am being serious. i don't know if its accurate but majority of people on twitch were running Qunari when the game came out.

Then there likely will be less content then for the whole game.    Your demand will sacrifice other aspects of the game.

Honestly I rather humans with multiple origins like ME was. I feel the DA team could do that far more justice than the human/elf divide especially given the vast amount of lopsidedness humans get in comparison.

I would enjoy too that but the vocal "I HATE HUMANS/Humans Suck" crowd would get mad.    But perhaps by then it won't be popular and trendy to hate on humans the way it is now.
