I'm trying to hash out some alt Alchemist builds and I'm wondering how Poison DoT application works if you're running Poisoned Weapons, Toxic Cloud, and the passive Explosive Toxin that creates a toxic cloud when a poisoned enemy dies. Do these stack at all? Is there some sort of hidden synergy that I'm not seeing because as it stands, Poisoned Weapons + Explosive Toxin seems infinitely superior to bringing along Toxic Cloud.

I am actually unsure. From playing the assassin, either the poison DoT's do not stack, or the cloud passive automatically applies the regular poison on all targets hit. Either way, I did not get any additional damage for stabbing with (poisoned weapons) a target that was poisoned by the cloud.

Thanks for the reply. The way I understand the tooltips (which means haven't actually tested the numbers) is that Poisoned Weapons without the upgrade just grants the DoT at 25% weapon damage per second. What I can't tell is if the upgrade grants a flat 25% damage on your auto attacks when Poisoned Weapons is running OR if it grants 25% more damage to the Poison DoT. In practice it doesn't seem like all of the DoT's stack but...it's hard to tell. You theoretically could have 3 separate Poison DoT's on 1 target via Poisoned Weapons + auto attack(1), Toxic Cloud (2), and a passive cloud from Explosive Toxin (3).

You really shouldn't be in the middle of a group of enemies where you've placed that cloud for long, because you will die. That's the whole point of using it. Get in, get out.

I use both blades and cloud with shadow strike so I can keep them up constantly, poisoning everything in sight. It's usually better in Dragon Age games to alternate between abilities situationally, not just throw them up all at once.

Active abilities, that is... *sheds a tear for sustained abilities*

I've been running Frost Flask, Fire Flask, Sleep Bomb (or Toxic Cloud), and Poison Weapons so I'm playing heavy into Alchemy.

It pissed me off too much that the passive that buffs flask durations wouldn't work after I used fire + mines because all my stamina was gone, even when I stopped throwing mines short of fire flask ending.

I've given up on frost flask. Rogues aren't supposed to have AoE taunts, the old Duelist tree was so much better. I just got wrecked way too quickly and sometimes the freeze effect wouldn't trigger on being hit with melee.

I never take the Taunt.

no it does not stack

the poison consider as status effect, like shock, frozen

you won't get 2 shock , or frozen on the same enemy

test it on single play thought with poison weapon and toxic cloud (t3 weapon + nightmare )

two reasons i believe it does not stack

1. the status menu on enemies only get 1 poison, not 2 like some of the stackable effect which appear multiple times

2. by observation .there are no increase in damage , the dot damage are the same.  only 1 dot damage appear ( even toxic cloud give 2 hit at the same time, still consider as the same dot tick)

but there are actually 2 poison effect . if enemies leave poison cloud but do not affected by poisoned weapon. they won't be poisoned after leaving

while the one get damage by poison weapon. he remain poisoned even leaving the toxic cloud

can't test about explosive toxic . the toxic cloud is the same color as explosive cloud.it is annoying to do the test

Actually, Toxic clouds do seem to stack, but not in a normal kind of way. Having more than one toxic clouds even in the same spot will accumulate the damage, but I think theres a ceiling to it. I've had 8 at the same time but it might be overdoing it. I can't see any other reason as to there being 2-3 floating damage numbers at the same time, for each enemy - when I stack the clouds. Everyting dies a lot quicker as well.

you can't get more than 1 toxic cloud per player( not sure what happen for 2 players, may be 2 players with toxic cloud can stack )

only 1 at a time even you use fire flask and spam toxic cloud.

the previous toxic cloud will disappear gradually

the damage for toxic cloud appear with 2 floating text ,like 2 hits   .

not sure why it appear in 2 hits , archer and 2 hand dagger both appear with 2 hits

it may be like you say it get a maximum cap for stack , but i don't find it faster to kill even i spam toxic cloud with fire flask

may be my weapon damage is too high or i need to try it on higher difficulties. only tried on routine solo.

can you provide a screen shot(or even a video) to show 3 green toxic floating text per time ?

Yeah I've definitely seen poison DoT tick off in two sets of numbers as well as one though I don't know why. I don't think it's an effect of poison stacking though as I've seen the dual numbers off of one application of Toxic Cloud by itself. It's weird.

It's probably because the cloud poisons enemies with the upgrade and also damages them while they're in the cloud.
