After getting used to it, I started crafting interesting versions of Hawke depending on the Act they were in. Because you get a chance at each beginning of an Act to adjust their neutral voice. It's kind of neat for roleplaying.. considering it's a 7 year period or something? So their personality is going to evolve (or devolve) over that timeframe.

It worked for the ten year period of DA:I and it was really the only plus to the time jumps. My Hawke started off Aggressive (because there's a ****** Blight on my doorstep) and slowly eased into the Humorous personality. By Act III he just didn't give a **** LOLOL anymore... much like BioWare's writers.

I do find her interesting.

She is confident, strong willed, funny and cocky. On top of it, her lines are delivered beautifully by the English voice actress.

I have yet to play a male Inquisitor, but I am very happy of the two ladies I created.

No. I like them, but there's no story, no progression, no point other than being the protagonist. People look to the Inquisitor for leadership within the first 15 minutes, and the Inquisitor is able to give it. The Inquisitor continues to be a leader for the rest of the game, nothing goes wrong, and nothing improves.

The Warden and Hawke progress, though I feel you have to want it to work for there to be any power in their stories.

yup, boring chantry tool. 2nd pt (this time a power-hungry dwarf, hippie elf was 1st one) at the moment and i don't see any differences between them. tbh, i have no idea why the people are inspired by her/him, i wouldn't be

I didn´t care for him. The character (male mage) felt very bland, very one dimensional. None of the "emoticons" actually changed things. The so called "backstory" could have been removed and it would have miniscule effect on the gameplay. There was nothing in the discussion or the follower interaction which would have picked my interest.

The only adult male LI option, Cassandra, was quite annoying with her continuous blabbering about the maker and how my pc was the herald of andraste. Oh and yes, in the end you get the "I have to do this" crap again. I go to hell and back to save us and do all these things to show my love and this is my thanks? Nice.

I didn´t care for the worshipping everyone showed in my pc´s face. It felt quite irrational when I used all the "I´m not herald! I don´t believe in the maker!" discussion options and still everyone kept falling on their knees for a woship before me. Like my pc was in another dimension or something and everyone just saw his mouth move but didn´t hear him.

Very much Life of Brian kind of effect.

Can´t get myself to start another playthrough and it is quite telling since I´ve completed Origins about 30 - 40 times and DA2 about 20 times.

I liked my inquisitor. I would have liked it more if there was a greater reaction to the things that she was saying though. I played a Dalish mage that kept telling everyone that she was not the Herald and under no uncertain terms was she doing anything for the Chantry. She was there to close the Breach because it needed to be done and she was the only one who could, but I always chose the "I don't believe in this" or aggressive option when discussing Chantry things.

Not that it mattered. Everyone still treated my Inquisitor like she was 100% going along with the idea. I get that people are gonna believe what they're gonna believe, but why do they all assume my Inquisitor is on the crazy train with them?

I find -my- Inquisitor interesting, just as a I found my Warden and Hawke interesting.  But my character will never be as interesting as the companions and other people you meet in your journeys.

The alternative of it probably would be like this:

Cassandra and Co. dragging kicking and screaming IQ and making him/her close the hole in the sky and then ditching IQ during the Haven events. Happy ending for Cory.

In all seriousness, not even Cassandra believes that you are some magical embodiment of Andraste, her take is quite logical (for a very religious person).

Really? All I got out of her was that perhaps it's providence that IQ is here, that she herself is not sure if IQ is Maker's agent and that it's the IQ's actions  what made IQ Cory's enemy.  That's pretty mild way of seeing things imo

Yes. She believes in providence.. that the Maker's hand is at work in even the smallest of things (probably the one thing she shares with Leliana's beliefs. It's a bit different than typical Chantry beliefs.. which is deistic). But even that is offputting for some.

Actually, this is a very interesting question to me!  I enjoyed the Inquisitor voice acting in DAI, but definitely noticed more than once that the Inquisitor's lines don't actually seem to be taking advantage of the range of performance these actors are clearly capable of making.  There's a lot of neutral expression and urgent/heroic shouting, but not a great deal of sublety.  Compared to Jo Wyatt's and especially Nicholas Boulton's performances as Hawke (EVEN IN DAI), it shows.  There were just a lot more opportunities for them to be expressive and have dynamic range.  Because of this, I think the Inquisitor does come off as a little bland.

Nah, Cass would be the leader of the HoA club if she could. No matter what she believes Andraste sent you when they needed you most.  Even though I told her I didn't believe in the Maker, when I told the Cleric in Val Royeaux that I was chosen by Andraste she approved. lol!

When you do that, she just assumes you're adjusting beliefs.

Or it's writer oversight. :\  Don't read too much into it! :P

Well sadly i dislike such limited rp options where in dao you could be anywhere from hero to villain protagonist here you at worst are light anti-hero but at least they gave us some freedom in terms of faith.

The Inquisitor is not a character who needs to be interesting. The Inquisitor is the the telescope you see the world through. The Inquisitor is you.

I find it very provocating and annoying when others tries to give me a personality and abilities I do not own.

But maybe the OP meant the choice of character for a story? Is an inquisitor interesting?

In my country the inquisition is most certainly NOT something anyone speaks of with admiration. The inquisition was responsible for the death of thousands of innocent people whos only crime was being different. They burned women and men on the fire AFTER they had tortured them to confess.

Moreso than Commander Shepard at any rate, mainly because the Inquisitor can be made out to be smarter and more expressive about personal beliefs.

Very much so. Of course, I'm playing a Dalish female mage who is unsure what to believe about the woman seen behind her in the rift, how to provide mages with protection and guidance without making them prisoners (sure wish more nuanced dialogue choices were available!), and discovering that her heritage is not precisely what she thought it was, all while romancing Solas. I think that a character whose views were more pre-defined would herself be less interesting. although reactions to her might still be engaging.

There's a reason the Trevelyan motto is "Modest in temper, bold in deed". I think the British VA was meant to reflect that. Then they added the other races and it leaked over to their performances.

The Inquisitor is a mixed bag for me. Lavellan is probably my favorite protagonist in DA, but overall the Inquisitor is a limited character because I can't play anything but Lavellan. The others just don't feel right.

The VO I can take or leave, though it was better than I expected, mainly because there were few times where she was off yakking without my input.

Because I don't. At least, not with the dialogue options available. It just feels like the Inquisitor lacks the diversity of options the Warden possessed to express themselves and the definition of character from the 3 Hawke(diplomatic, snarky, aggressive) personalities.

I dunno. I don't really have as much of a feel for the Inquisitor as I did for the last two protagonists. Anyone else feel this way? Or the opposite?

Whatever you feel about the colourfulness of the options the Inquisitor has more expressions open than any Bioware Protagonist ever. It's not even comparable. The range of emotions you can exhibit is really quite large.
