One important feature that I feel was left out of this game was the option to have an art gallery FULL of many of the items you'd find scattered across Thedas---everything from rare trees to Orlesian masks, to pictures of Fade Rifts, Elven statues, rare creatures, stunning vistas, historical landmarks, and the list goes on.
I kind of imagined the setup for this art gallery to be broken down so that you could navigate it by section, i.e. "Nature," "People and Places" etc. This is always nice to have just to be able to browse whenever you want. While I purchased the art book for this game as a companion, I think a little more interactivity in terms of discovering any and all of these things might make us feel a little more interested and devoted to the world in DAI.
Make a player discover the statue, just once--the tree, just once, a mask, statuette, or whatever it might be--just once. Then, in the art gallery, on the left hand side, or the right (whichever,) include a nice picture of the item. Then on the left, include the description. Allow players to navigate through the sections and appreciate everything they've discovered. It sure beats going and finding 48 copies of a book you might never read.
I would love this---I've spent hours in games just looking at the game's own dictionary to see how much time developers poured into fleshing out the world they've made, both visually and in writing--and without having to worry about anything else when they're looking at it.
Just a thought. ![]()
