EA should spend less money on advertising and more on making sure their product actually works.

Gotta admit the commercials were cool, but servers that work >>>>>>> neat commercials.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this happens every time EA hosts servers for release, happened with BF:H, hell, their site is down/slow quite a fair bit of the time.

It is also biowares fault for being stupid enough to use EA

Guys, I understand we all want to play, inluding me. But dont bring on the hate so soon, Bioware I'm sure are trying to solve things as fast as they can.

Uh, this is no fault of BioWare's? Its pure EA fail. And I bring on the Hate because EA deserves it. I really try to keep a level head with them. I try to look on the bright side and figure stuff happens. But they don't exactly make it easy to do so. Especially at times like this.

You have to ask yourself, did you REALLY not expect something like this? Did you REALLY not have a backup plan?

How?  Server issues like this happen all the time, even on servers designed to handle the load.  It's a glitch, and it's unfortunate, but it happens.  Welcome to the cloud, it's just as fallible as any other man made device.  It isn't as simple as renting out a backup server, either.

That EA Please Wait... screen is very indicative of the high amounts of failure being experienced. It's really depressing because all the game like stuff I've seen (press any key screen and menu) look pretty cool.

It's not Bioware I'm mad at, it's EA. And it's entirely appropriate to "bring on the hate" if something that you bought doesn't work. If someone sold you a car, and when you turned the key to drive it off the lot it didn't start, you'd be remiss if you didn't complain. It's the same thing here. When I buy things, I have the reasonable expectation that they will work.

Anybody know if this is killing the DA servers too? I've had trouble reaching my Dragon Age info ever since the game updated back when Return to Ostagar briefly appeared on the 360.

They advertised the 2 minute trailer during the NFC Championship game Sunday night, but then when push comes to shove on launch day they just cannot keep up. It kills me. EA manages to screw up almost everything they are involved in.

Ive said it before and i'll state it again EA is the blight on the industry as a whole. And sadly they keep buying up these really good smaller companys, and have already destroyed more then a few

Sigh. It's the exact same Charlie Foxtrot as they had with Dragon Age. I guess it was too much to ask for them to make sure the crap WORKED this time?

I'm SO happy you guys were bought by EA, Bioware, it's just unbelievable. EA is like this shining ray of light that makes everything better.

I'm really looking forward to waiting two weeks again before I finally get the DLC THAT I PAID FOR.

Good job. Truly.

Servers should not have gone down to begin with. EA needs to be aware of its product line up to allocate effective network resources to support major game release dates such as today so that DLC and registrations can operate smoothly during this critical phase. Delays at this juncnture cause tremendous customer dissatisfaction and promote piracy, or at best growing hesitation to preorder their titles or incentive collectors editions.

Prior to Dragon's Age Origins I never had a problem with any of Bioware's content or the delivery of their patches. Since their merge wtih EA and the promotion of greater DLC I have encountered problem after problem. Developers may see a great deal of value in aligning themselves with a production company, however it also severely damages your brand name. I have no doubt that Mass Effect 2 will be a fantastic game and that my complaints today will dissolve as soon as I get to enjoy it, but the analyst side of me protests this server downtime without a regular support documentation.

A cynical part of me almost believes that EA expected this. They know release day will be jammed but that it would die down in a few days and just didn't want to fork out for extra capacity needed on release day. How could they possibly be taken by surprise at the volume? That's the excuse they used for Dragon Age, and ME is much more mainstream.

So i just entered my cerberus code on this site and it gave me the armor...lol I guess I'm going to have to get a cerberus code now.

no you're not. you bought the game, and that comes with the cerberus card. if its not working its their fault. I have the same problem, but I will not settle for having to buy it seperately. Hopefully no one else does either.

That's not cynicism, it's simply the way things are.

Wow, I got a message saying the forum servers are experiencing "extreme load". There is much pissed-offitude about (me included).

That's pretty standard.  You buy enough hardware to handle the load 95% of the time.  It costs a lot more to cover 100% of the time, and they're out to make money, not provide a top-notch service.  Notice how the only MMOs that have a smooth launch are the ones that go out of business in a few months.

As long as we're complaining, what was the UI guy thinking (and where was his QA) when the tab key doesn't navigate fields on the window to sign into what we believe the Cerberus network should be?
