Up till now i have been seriously disappointed by combat and AI behaviour options.

In normal mode there is no auto attack option, i will probably end up breaking my mouse, if i have to click mouse continously or if have to hold the click to keep attacking. Also, if i am doing that then I can't give directions to my followers, which is kinda crap because they just insanely attack the opponent that my controlled character is attacking and there are not many AI behavioural options to sort that out either.

Tactical Mode could have been great but If I switch to Tactical Mode, it has camera issues and zoom on tactical mode is the worst. I have to keep changing angles, zoom in and zoom out for several minutes, until i find a suitable tactical view, even then its not desirable view.

I mean i have no idea how to enjoy combat in this game.  Combat has been utterly disappointing.

Anyone having similar issues with combat?

If you're worried of breaking your mouse in this game for the autoattack... you probably never played Diablo :D

Other than that, tactical camera has its flaws, they will be surely addressed in a patch since what was important was releasing the game before Christmas.

i agree with u about the Ai, but if u chose a target & hold ur left mouse down it continues attacking as long as u hold mouse down, u can even use spells & after using spells it continues attacking cause u hold mouse button down, so u don't need to click all the time so problem solved, no braking mouse

But why is there no auto attack? All previous BIoware RPGs had auto attack, going all the way back to BG days, even the last two dragon ages games had auto attack.

You never had to click mouse repeatedly or hold it, for that matter.

Also if i am focusing the enemy and he leaps out of the range, then just clicking him wouldn't do the job, my controlled character won't run to him if i just use click, i need to use 'WSAD' keyboard buttons to run to him. This is totaly against the mechanics that are usually used by the games that use mouse click attack system.

Seriously controls on this game are so badly broken, the game story and depth may be good and game offers the **** ton of abilities but the camera and combat is really bad.

Not sure why gaming sites gave this game good score. Broken controls and camera alone completely trash the experience.

I guess I should have expected that, since the Bioware Ace guy left the company few months ago.

I wish there was a way to  get my money back.

Get a controller if you dont like kb&m. Controls are great for a controller. Any controller will work with x360ce.

yes I have a controller, but i didn't try using it.

but how will a controller fix the Tactical Camera angle and zoom in problems? and also the continuous clicking to attack enemies?

Well anyway i'll try the controller and see what happens.

Rarely in this game wouod i want autoattack, so i dont miss it. So few classes depend on actually autoattacking, or even using the basic attack at all that its a non issue.

I'm not sure if it's the same on computer but you can continuously attack just by holding down the button on a controller, if the frequent clicking bothers you.

Also, you can switch to your other characters and the AI will take control of your character and continue attacking, so you don't have to be there clicking and can manage the rest of your team.

The combat is definitely a bit clunky and my biggest complaint is how erratic the hit boxes are.  Way too often you're just completely unable to hit something that's right in front of you because they're slightly elevated, knocked down or something else.

You can also hold the R button on your keyboard instead of left click to attack. It was a bit weird at first but I got used to it and it doesn't bother me now.

With the controller you won't need to go into tac cam as much and when you do it will only to issue a command or two.

A controller to me feels worse than the crappy KB&M controls.

The archer played well with the KB&M and this combat system, but the other classes I couldn't get into.

Another thing is if I go play something else for awhile then come back to DA:I nothing really works as expected again and as I've already finished the game I lose interest pretty quick and go play something else.

I had some fun with DA:I but I'd be lying if I said I was a happy customer or happy with many, if any of the design changes to combat, magic or the use of the large maps.

Stop killing your brain cells and you'll be able to remember how a controller works between games.
