Caltraps all the way. They are OP and should really be nerfed.... hehehe... totes serious... hehe.

 

I got the Caltrap bow and ring in the same pack and went about terrorizing randoms with piles and piles of caltraps. I had one of them ask why the hell I still had caltraps at level 17 and lost it. I'm amused too easily I guess, lol.

There's a bow with a chance to cast Caltrops? If so, I need that in my life.

Yup. It's a blue bow with 10% proc chance that seems way higher then 10%. It's The "Bow of Helpful Hazard" - at least that's what mine was called and I got two of them some beyatches in the same pack with the caltrap ring! lol!

Wish there were ability kills challenges so everyone would be subjected to grinding routine with caltrops then everyone would see the true power of a ...25% slow?

OP is an obvious scrub who doesnt understand the greatness of Caltrops. I once saved B00g13's life by taking down a Giant with Caltrops (true story). Just imagine how many days the Legionnaire could hold off darkspawn if he had caltrops

This actually happened.

 

I also solo'd Perilous with a lvl 1 Archer using Caltrops only.

I've found it in the SP campaign, but Sera's level doesn't currently qualify to use it, so I don't know what it does when it triggers.

There is one bow like that in SP indeed. Its as powerful as you can imagine. I suspect they removed it from MP because as you said .. lvl 1 solo Perilous and then they have to deal with cries for nerf.

If DC has you pinned way up on a statue, the best thing you can do is rain caltrops down in his eyes. I know it works cause he screamed, burrowed back down into the ground and left for a while.

The caltrops upgrade probably turns it into the ME3MP missile launcher, but no one has ever spent the point to find out.

you know, a line from "Pitch Black" comes to mind here.  It's like you drop them Caltrops, and of course it seems to do diddly squat and here they come as if nothing was slowing them down, then I hear that line "People, just a suggestion.  Perhaps you should flee!"
