Besides, I'm pretty sure I saw Joe Devola using Spirit Mark instead of Caltrops on his pro1337 Archer. He also plays console.

If only Katari had Caltrops my life would be complete.
First I would drop caltrops. Then I would lure my enemies to it and scare them off with War Horn. After that I would laugh at their clumsy attempts of escape only to be caught with my hook on a chain. I wouldn't upgrade it though, because I would like to see my enemies die on caltrops... with me rolling on the floor around them.

OP is an obvious scrub who doesnt understand the greatness of Caltrops. I once saved B00g13's life by taking down a Giant with Caltrops (true story). Just imagine how many days the Legionnaire could hold off darkspawn if he had caltrops

It is indeed. Spirit Mark self revives the necromancer. I've successfully incorporated it into my own build, and self-revived soooo often on the Demon Commander fight in a full team beating him without a keeper or elementalist! No barrier, just self revives and awesome friends.
