In July 2014, Bioware released Part 1 of their E3 demo in which Mike Laidlaw tells us about this "World Master System" in which for example, if you hunt all the bears in the area, their numbers will dwindle and increase the population of rams or fennecs (the latter part was mentioned elsewhere, I can't find the footage).

So far however, I have seen absolutely no evidence of this system at work, so I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this feature in the game at all?

I never found any evidence that this system actually exist.I kill a thousands of animals, aggressive or not, collect every crafting material and nothing changes, they spawn again so easily that is a little strange.I just harvested an elfroot, and a few minutes later,I could harvest again...

the extra year and a bit was used to add entire zones of filler content... DA:I is void of any complex mechanisms

Indeed, they filled the game with a lot of useless rubbish (like mounts - really?) and left out all the important stuff that contributes to a good GAME.

And of course, Multiplayer.

I don't even know why I bother complaining any more, I sure as hell am never buying another Bioware game.

This is what they wasted their time on?

They also said your class and spec would have an effect on the game. Stuff gets dropped all the time. This is why they shouldn't pimp the game too much before release.

What?

They said a whole lot of things to market the game, but then failed to deliver. I am not fooled by false advertising twice. A large percentage of my decision to buy DAI was based upon these promised features. And yes, I say "promised" because they categorically stated them to be in the game. And yet, they are not.

They absolutely never said that. Bioware cut lots of things. But this was always a rumour based on Bioware saying that they hoped to make specialisations count more story-wise.

That's my point. They said that. They shouldn't have. They should've just made the game and only revealed what they were certain would make it into the game.

The modern game hype machine is a load of (Iron) bull (hehe).

Remember all those photos of "exploration skills" behind developers? What did we get? Bash, Energise and Lockpick. Totally lame. They should never have revealed those shots and implied there would be more.

I hadn't heard about this. I'd have preferred it....because as it is, I think they decided to put fertility magic into the bears' water supply, because the map seems flipping full of the blasted things LOL

Why not? Bioware continues to promote ME3 with cut footage of features that never made it into the game (http://masseffect.bi...om/about/story/ jump to 1:00), and they get away with it (as in, the ASA actually responded to a complaint I filed saying that it's totally fine to promote your game using cut content).

Unless you are morally bankrupt, you pull the ads and issue a correction when you realize that the features won't make it into the finished product; you do not continue running the ads hoping people won't notice.

It's a video game, so no one cares if it works. You have no rights (imagine if it was a car lacking a key feature like an expensive GPS prominently featured in advertising... )

Look, I'm not saying Bioware didn't advertise eventually cut features. I'm all saying is that they *never* said specialisations would matter.

Ya as far as I can tell animals just spawn back alot faster then they should.... except the wolves that were tied to a quest. They stayed dead.

Ha! I remember that statement as well and I played the game as if that were the case. It wasn't until my friend started playing and just laying waste to everything that I started to suspect that there was no such mechanic.
This game keeps getting downgraded for me, little by little. Still a good game just not as good as Bioware pimped it out to be and definitely not as good as Dragon Age Origins in my opinion.

If this is the way Bioware wants to market their games - based on lies - then that is their business. But guess what? My business will go elsewhere.

I always follow game development for games I am interested in buying, and never before have I seen a developer promise so many features, so close to release, that never actually make it into the game. They knew the features they were selling us were not going to be in the game and yet they continued to use them as bait.

The fanboys over at reddit of course defends Bioware 100% (hence why the devs love to hang out there), saying they can't confirm any features until the game goes gold. That is total bullshit! The game was feature complete long before it actually went gold. That is called the Beta stage if I am not mistaken.

So yeah, between the rubbish support, half-arsed PC port, and an end product that is NOTHING like what they promised, I simply will not buy another Bioware game.

Respect and loyalty towards Bioware: Gone.

They were talking about the system in E3 2014 as well.

Seems to me it's standard industry practise to over-promise.

Yes, and they keep promising these features even AFTER the game was announced to be "feature-complete".

At least with DA2, they only promised that pressing a button would make something awesome happen, which is subjective. But to announce features by name and description (Mike Laidlaw, we are looking at you) and then simply not deliver? Well, that is just deceptive, is it not?

I find it almost hilarious how a company that is on such thin ice with their franchise can suddenly become so arrogant. But there you have it.

got to admit company's that make the games need to stop making promises or showing content that will not be released it really just to make people more concerned with what there buying. I can see that the game isn't what It should have been and is defiantly not complete. they should have not released the game for Christmas and stop cutting parts out im sure people would have preferred a better game that took longer to complete than just say rush it out for Christmas even if its half done.

I defiantly noticed that by killing loads of a certain animal they just re spawn this is basically the halla I just slaughter to get the fade touched item from them. I have noticed though when you take a keep that there are hardly any more bandits or the enemy your meant to fight.

It's all about company mechanics, company politics and consumers money. That's all there's to say. They know that for every one whiner, rightly or wrongly, there's a satisfied customer. And as long as money and calculations are on the good 'side' they don't give a rat's behind.

Nowadays we are in every way being deceived, whether it is by politics, food companies and other companies or in this case, game developers. And it's all because WE let it happen, over and over again.

Sadly that is true.

Lucky for us, when we identify these deceivers, we can choose to stop supporting them! Perhaps it does not even matter to them if I stop buying their games. But they are the one having to live with themselves and their lack of integrity.

I will go spend my money elsewhere. I just hope many others will do the same. Sooner or later, this kind of practise always catches up with companies, often resulting in their demise.

This happens all the time.  It might not work the way you think it should, but it does happen.

Aggressive mobs kill non-aggressive game everywhere.  While the difference may be negligible, you can notice more non-aggressive critters in an area once you kill off a significant amount of the hostiles.

I think that they just couldn't pull it off. For many years BioWare was technologically behind other developers. They are still far behind, because other than improved graphics they actually offer less options than their older engines did, while other  developers are cosntanly advancing and improving.

Just think about it: BioWare had to use an engine specificly made for FPS to make an RPG. Because they can't make an engine of their own to meet their needs?

PAX 2013 looked like majority of the game was completed, after all game was supposed to be shipped sometime in early 2014. They supposedly took another year to add other races for the protagonist, but it seems that they had to take additional year because they just cound't pull off anything that is even slightly more sophisticated than bring 10 ram meats to an NPC. Beyond graphics DAI is as basic as it gets.

I wonder if their programmers had a hard time or the management was lost and clueless.

This is a neat feature but not really a must have. I don't need a wildlife simulator buried in my game. I suspect the problem was balancing it in any meaningful way. I will say at least the wildlife attacks the hostile mobs and attacks each other so that is a bonus. I like watching bears do my work for me in the Hinterlands.

With the amount of stuff cut from DA:I they could probably make another entire game with it...
