Romances that is!

Am I only one who actually would prefer if our LI options actually were ones that made first move(female LIs I can understand not making first move in here)? It is like you are one that needs to start everything,LI options don't even show 0 interest in you until you make a move.I would usually go and say that I understand Cullen because he never was in love before but hell in DAO even he flirted with my Warden,while with Inquisitor is more like "Oh I didn't noticed you until you gave me a smile and made a move".Also many characters in DAO hit on you first if you gain their approval enough,they will flirt with you first and I liked that but in DA:I no one does first move at all it is always Inquisitor that makes move first,except Sera but she only shows interest in female Qunari.I always expected that of Cullen to be one that becomes shy around you and make some "shy comment" to your Inquisitor first like he did with Warden if you get his approval high for example,then IB to make first move as Zevran did,Blackwall,Dorian...all dead silent until you make first move.I just wish if they made at least some comment on your Inquisitor that shows they actually have thing for you,as Leliana said in DAO "Oh, chivalry is so dead. Making the lady spill her guts like that...".

I'm assuming that you weren't around for Andersgate 2011, huh?  Short version?  Because Anders hit on Hawke (specifically male Hawke) without Hawke initiating it, some people were highly offended.  Now it might have to do with the somewhat limited ways that Hawke can respond, but I'll leave that for people who can actually explain it better.  Gaider has since stated on his blog that it's unlikely that they'll ever have an LI initiate the overt flirting/romance dialogue again.

It's not so bad... I like the idea of impressing and working my way up to receive my LI's love and affections.

I'm not asking of them to go and "Damn you are hot,let's bang!" thing.I mean more on way DAO handled flirtation,for example Alistair even first time he meets female Warden he is little flirty with you in harmless way,then Leliana if you get high enough approval will also start giving you compliments,Zevran if you are female makes flirty comment when you try to kill/spare him of course to save his a$$ but still he still gives you lot of compliments and flirts to you and indicates he finds you appealing,Morrigan also gives flirty compliment when you first meet her.

While in DAI no one does this(except Sera once again but only to fem Qunari),they don't indicate one bit that they find you appealing as woman/man in any way.Hell IB spent more time flirting with Dorian then he did with my romanced Inquisitor,even when you first meet Dorian and if IB is in party he still goes saying to be careful about "pretty ones" while Inky gets no compliment not even once no matter what gender.

lol I know about previous DA games I stated that this happens in previous DA games but that in DA:I no one except Sera makes any first move or shows any interest to your Inquisitor before you make first move.

Or they felt the game was forcing the romance cuz by Act2 he's practically throwing himself at Hawke. Also in origins if your approval with a companion got so high they'd start flirting with you and if you didn't want that romance you had to turn em down and gained alot of their disapproval.

Anyway, the Anders relationship only started if you picked the golden heart. Why that was so difficult to understand was beyond me.

Well, when you start the romance with him you can ask him that question, on why he never acted on his feelings. Considering his personality & things he had gone through & is currently facing (i.e. the subject of his personal quest), I can fully understand that he isn't sure at all that his feeling is mutual. He's quite shy on this kind of matters, even in DA:O this guy will literally run from you if you flirt too much...

 

You can actually ask him when you're about to start the relationship, on why he never acted on his feeling. The convo went like this (paraphrase)

 

Inquisitor: *I'm interested in you. Is this feeling mutual?*

Cullen: *in fact yes, I even imagined how I must respond if ever you come to talk about it*

Inquisitor: *then why you never act on it first?*

Cullen: * we're at war, you are my boss, and you've seen me breaking down. Not sure that you're still interested in me afterward*

 

Which is to say, quite a valid response in my opinion...

I was around during that time I kind of hated the fact I was in defenders mode of Anders here.

I never lost approval turning them down. You just had to know how to respond without hurting their feelings. Letting them down gently so to speak. I agree with OP it was kind of nice to have Alistair initiate the romance but Anders was irritating in DA2. Diplomatic responses meant he thinks you like him whether heart or not and if you didn't respond with a flirt you got rivalry. Meh.

That's is why I only spoke with an joking tone a bit to him this way lines wouldn't be crossed with him. He was easy to get around this way by just being funny and humorous with him instead of him not realizing that not every thing is into him that way. This also why they should have put a netural option with Anders being turned down. Like say sorry man I am not into sleeping with you. Ect I hated the tone they did the rejection in as it sounded cold and horrible to me.

I think there's a difference between showing interest and initiating a romance. The Inquisitor doesn't really initiate anything. They just prope until someone says, "Let's bang."

I get the impression on Dorian only flirting openly with girls. My friend play a guy character & when I watch the scenes he flirt much less with a guy. Is this true for all time or only for some particular scene?

I believe so, I don't remember him ever flirting with my male Inquisitor he treats you like a bro.
